Screw the Jedi. The Combat Rebalance is the thing that will make or break SWG. People will be looking at it to see if it is truly deserving of those smartass dev replies of "Wait for the Combat Rebalance." There's way more issues that needed fixing before pampering the Jedi.

Garvin, you make a good point about needing "Secrets of the Force" before the CB, and therefore I suppose we would need to add that at the same time as the Jedi revamp. I'll give you that, but if this is supposed to be the quickest fix, we are in for a long wait w/ the CB. I guess I'm just really frustrated with the fact thatCM's seem to rule the world and we are going to have to wait ~3 months before they attempt to fix it! This is an issue that almost everyoneacknowledges, and affects tons of people. Also, it seems like the devs are so secretive about the CB, yet they point to that as their solution for all of our problems. If they know it's going to solve all of our problems, why don't they tell us how? Let's discuss it, not keep it a secret! Oh right, just keep waiting...

I agree with you 100%...I have fought hard to get any specifics out regarding the CB...What little I've found out I've made sure to post here...we even got a bit out of them a few weeks ago with our previous response in the 19 Answers post...

A Couple of weeks agoI specifically asked TH to give me anything he could tell me regarding the CB's effect on Commandos or at the very least, something regarding the Combat Testing Process (how it will work and who will be involved)...TH responded back to me that until Publish 9 everything will stay a secret...not because they like keeping secrets, but because until they finish the Jedi Revamp nothing is totally set in stone...He doesn't want to tell me something that I can pass along, that later gets changed and we flame him for it...

TH did tell me that when Publish 9 completes we should expect focus to shift to the CB and much information, including specifics, to start spilling out...and when the CB Test Server goes live we'll have a chance to see these specific changes in action...We'll know if it's a good or bad thing for us...and if it's bad, we'll have a chance to provide direct input into possible fixes...

Besides all that, remember there is a mini-publish coming that is suppose to focus heavily on each professions Top 5 issues...

The Devs don't want to tell us anything to early because they know, not matter what change they suggest, some group will hate it and fight against it...look at the wars over crafting changes, droid commander, Creature Hander changes, etc...everytime, they told there plans way ahead of time and things exploded even before anyone had a chance to test anything...instead this time they are going to reveal the secrets around the same time testing starts...we'll not just know the theories, but we'll see how they impact game play...if it sucks, we'll tell them...

If this was the case, then why spend two full publishes on it?

Which seems longer...

Publish 9 + 10

Or...

Publish 5, 6, 7...all they way up to Publish 11? The CB impacts a larger group and therefore they've spent a larger amount of time comparatively...

The work on the Combat Balance never stopped...it started with 3 full publishes but was delayed to set up a testing environment....during that time it was retooled and the ideas for the Jedi Revamp came to light (which meant that the CB had to be retooled again to fit witht he Jedi Revamp)...

The Jedi revamp specifically targets a small group directly...but it effects EVERYONE...Everyone can become force sensitive without becoming a full Jedi...the revamp mainly effects the Jedi player, the way they unlock, they way they progress, even their weapons and specials...it all changes...

But the Jedi Revamp doesn't take anything away from other professions...instead it gives to them by allowing force sensitive "enhancers" to be added...There are survey enhances, crafting enhancers, accuracy bonuses, etc...And these "enhancers" need to fit in with the goals of the Combat Rebalance...so, at least to me, it makes sense to add them in prior to the CB going live rather then NERF something later as a result..

Speaking of publish 9 and 10...

Did we ever get a definitive answer on the armor/weapon equip delay thing?

It is still totally and utterly stupid, and has gotten even more so this week. All week devs have been saying that "Jedi Robes are intended to replace conventional armor" and that "conventional FS skills (the ones before Padawan become worthless to Jedi because Jedi have no use for conventional skills and items--their "religion" provides all of their needs through other means).

So if Jedi robes are meant to replace armor and Jedi are supposed to do withough conventional skills and items, why the hell is every class being hit with a delay just to make it fair when jediuse conventional items (like armor). Makes no sense to me.....

Its the laziness of the Developers to please their ickle baby Jedi.

Apparently people found a way to easily get around the whole 'cant wear armor with a lightsabre' thing with a macro, so instead of applying a proper fix, they slapped on an extremely poor bandage which affects the other proffessions negativly. Now proffessions that rely on more than one weapon such as Bounty Hunters, and those who use a wide variety of damage types are screwed thanks to the 'Jedi are #1 customers' initiative. Don't even get me started on how badly they are aiming Jedi at the wrong target audience...

Well, last I heard, after a lot of Correspondents posted Pros and Cons regarding this issue (I took the heavy CON side against this change since that seemed the general concensus of our community overall) TH said he was taking it back to Kel (a programmer) to re-evaluate the issue...so it could still be coming or not when TC's patch hits live...

I'll try and get on TC2 tonight to see if it's still in there (but even if it is, doesn't necessarily mean it's going live)...

Worst case scenerio is that it goes live, 90% of people protest it and the Devs change it back a short time later...I say short time because I've fairly confident that the Devs know most people are against this change andmight consider going with "let them try it out, if they hate it we'll change it back" attitude at this point...

Garvin, to keep your mind from becoming to Developerish, please read this thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Chilastra&message.id=208642&page=1

It was written for Jeassa, and she even replied to it, saying something about being honored that a Chilastrian wrote a rap song about her.
