No-one goes Rifleman / Commando because ther's absolutely no point using your Commando skills if you do.

Oh, and CM/Rifle is an easy combo to beat. I'm a Doctor, I heal the poison.

I'm bidding on a +25 Thrown Accuracy SEA for when I go back to Commando. Going dirt cheap too.

I've been doing a lot of PvP with Master Commando - 4040 Fencer - 0043 Pistoleer. With 2 aakuan rings, both melee and ranged defenses are capped and you also get plenty of def. vs dizzy and vs kd. With good armor and food, you can hold your own, but your dps will suck. What I try to do is dizzy/lunge/flame the enemies with lower defenses (CMs, docs) since that will be where you're most effective.

The thing I like about this combo is you still rely on your Commando skills to do the most damage, where as with TKM or Mrifleman you'll be carrying a knuckler or rifle 90% of the time.

I am a master commando/master rifleman
This is because I will never drop rifleman (played it since the beginning, when there were like 3 of us) and because this combo fits my play stile.
I am slow, methodical and a kiter.
It is not the best template for PvP, and PvP only sees the use of commando skills when I am taking down turrets.
And to be honest, I use strafeshot 2 more often in PvP than the midnshots. the mindshots usually only get used in 1 on 1 encounters, and thats if they don't get too close to get the flamedot put on them.

Face it people, Commando just doesn't have the speed to keep up with PvP and the damage reduction in PvP make us less that useful.

master brawler. If you warcry for a 20 second delay you have time to intimidate 1/2 and have time left over for free shots till you hit.

Nobody uses grenades because the accuracy is horrible. I went on a grenade-happy binge for about a month, collected every peice of thrown weapon accuracy SEA i could find, boosted up to +40 (125 total i believe, havent looked at a skill tree in awhile) also had some accuracy food and personally found a weaponsmith to make a batch of thermal detonators with points put all the way into accuracy. i went n00b hunting around anchorhead, found someone plunking away at a small imp base with a dlt20, lowblowed so he was on his back and chucked grenades like no tomorrow... 3 out of 5, not bad. With out the accuracy food, i would hit 2 out of 5, if they moved or were standing, i was lucky to get 1 out of 5, very rarely did 2 grenades hit in a row.

**thermal detonators are the best grenade right now, medium AP, decent dmg AND the lowest ham cost, something close to 100 on each, (unbuffed you find yerself on the ground after 3 grenades.)

Currently there is no such thing as a good pvp commando. And actually as fun as it is in PvE we really dont stand a chance against the high lvl mobs as most have insane resists to heat. It's sad that you see TKA's and Fencers with master Doc soloing places/things we can only dream of. Commando has been an up and down ride for sure, and currently we are about as low as the ride can get... but on to your PvP question.

Almost ALL of the people who take part in PvP haveuber templates, even if you stick a flamesingle 2, you'll be dead before you can fire another shot.

Some may argue that TKA/M.Commando is good, while it may be better than M.Commando alone you'll never stand a chance against the ppl who have stacked/uber temps. There are so many better skills to use the points on.

Hopefully the combat balance patch will make commando an option in pvp again. I have been a commando since I started playing the game in July 03 and have really had a blast.

But I love pvp and will soon be droping master commando as I am going to need the skill points. Hopefully the get the CB right and I'll be picking it up again soon.

/salute to all the dedicated Commandos out there. I respect the hell out of you guys for being able to stick with it.

Hi.

I am currently working on Commando, not sure if i will like the profession or not havent really gotten started into the commando tree.

But i would like to ask why none of you commandos have tried a CM/Commando hybrid as a template...i realize you give up some defenses by doing so but there is enough points to go Two line in Commando and Two lines in Combat medic...Thats enough for Flamer IV..and enough in CM to hurl poison and disease, not to mention the ability to heal your own mind in a pinch *shrug*

I just wonder what some of you veterans would think of that template from a PvP standpoint, it just occured to me to maybe give it a go when i was playing with the character builder on Alakazams

CMs can't use mind heal on themselves. As for a CM/Combat Medic build, you'd have to master two Novice professions, you wouldn't be particularly effective as -either- a Commando or a CM, and in PVP you'd end up using nothing but CM skills anyway.

Personally, I think a combo of pistoleer and rogue smuggler line is the best way to go. Lowblow, panic shot, and last ditch attack are invaluable in PvP (err, relatively speaking anyways.) If you pick up the pistoleer special and speed lines then you can use the geonosian pistol relatively fast as another option as well.

M.Commando/M.Pistoleer/0030 Smug. is a cool build

Commando stuff for pve, and pistoleer stuff for pvp.
The launcher pistol rocks at this level, and the heavy acid and flame tend to shut those irrate creatures up.
