Thread: Limiting the amount of time that I will wait for the infamous upgrade docs.
If you think that's crazy, TFC2 is actually going to come out. ![]()

I come here to read any good news and there are hardly any posts any more Ive seen tumbelweeds roll accross this forum most days. I hear Garvins words that once brought me great hope just sound like the wind blowing. I am sorry I mean no offense to you Garvin I have just heard you and TH say wait wait wait. I have waited to long. My patiance has left. I am still a master commando. I am going to play JTLS becuase the bases of it is blowing stuff up. And come on that is why we are commando right? So I will play JTLS probably for a month or 3 depending what they add and how board I get with the grinding. By then I hope the Revamp balance or upgrade what ever the hell they are calling it is out other wise I will be leaving. And ya ya who cares another whiny commando bites the dust no biggy I know. But still come on. For the love of god. This is in no way how to run a business. Piss off your cash cow. Lets see how much longer this cow gives you his milk.I am almost ready to go and copy past some really bad posts and hit it on every single forum I can right before I leave so when they ban me I can say I was banned for speaking my mind instead of giving up.
I feel the same ...I was a master creature handler and when we where nerfed almost a YEAR ago we where told "but wait for the revamp and all will be ok". Well I waited and waited and waited and after 6 months of waiting i dropped master creature handler ( its been almost a year now and you hardly every see a MCH anymore...hmm wonder why????...lol).
Soon I will drop this game if the revamp does not show up within a few months of the release of JTLS :C
I haven’t been playing SWG for sometime now, though my accounts are still active (my GF uses them). Like so many others players (commandoes or otherwise), I used to wait and wait for improvements and fixes, for the combat rebalance, revamp, upgrade or whatever. However in the end I decided to give it up and move on for several reasons.
The vaporware revamp.
I know a lot of people feel that ‘this time it’s for real’. But we’ve been down that road several times before. To me it doesn’t matter anymore what documents, promises and plans the devs have or don’t have, they have shown us to many times that they cannot commit to making the needed improvements, they cannot consistently communicate with us, their plans, thier timetables and their promises don’t hold. Maybe they will do the combat revamp by March, maybe even sooner, maybe it’ll be another year. We’ve no way of knowing, and the devs are unlikely to let us know if they change their time table along the way.
If they had been maintaining a high level of communication with the players I would be a lot more understanding of slips and them saying things that didnt hold in the long run. But when they rarely even tell anything at all, and on the rare occasions they do, still seem unable to show any kind of conistance between thier words and thier action (or in some cases it seems they are just blatantly feeding us a lie to shut us up), Ilose faith in the ability of the development team.
This one is really more a matter of my personal play style I guess. But even with a solid combat system, why even engage in combat? Why kill a bunch of rancors, nunas or slice hounds? There’s not really much reason to go hunt stuff.. The devs constructed a very impressive and elaborate virtual economy, but it sometimes feels like they forgot to add a motivating factor for playing.
What the future holds.
The main reason I’m jumping ship is not so much the revamp itself but the process we’ve been through up until this point. Someone above mentioned the situation creature handlers find themselves in, which I fell illustrates my point very well. The devs changed (or nerfed) Creature Handlers, almost a year ago, putting them in a situation where they were all but useless. This was supposed be a temporary situation 'until the revamp'. We now know that devs then failed to supply the changes that would make CH’s viable again. They have hardly even bothered acknowledging this situation for a year!
Well, I’ll still be lurking on the boards here and other places, but I doubt I’ll be logging into the game again. To those of you who decide to stay with it and hope for improvements, good luck, I do hope my pessimism proves unfounded, but I’ve looked long and hard at what we’ve been through so far, what the developers are telling us and not telling us and when looking at the evidence in front of us I can only expect the worst for the future of SWG.

THis just shows how screwed up this game is the DEV's cannot stand all the things that are broken and go play other games. IF the DEV's will not play the game, why should we? When the DEV's cease to play the game they stop being able to understand what is broken.
LOL...makes me giggle when people take what I say to the extreme...I should have stressed the word "occasionally"...It's like a Ford Technician occasionally drivinga Saturn...Occasionally they (1) want to take a break and do something different...and (2) see what playing other games will do to help inspire ideas for SWG....it's common practice in the MMO industry for the Devs and Programmers to play LOTS of MMOs...It's not because they are Fed up with the game...on the contrary, TH, JustG and Tiggs all play often and I've run into a couple of them ingame several times...
I occasionally play other MMOs...I still love SWG...I don't play CoH because I'm fed up with SWG, I play it because occasionally I need something different...CoH is more mindless then SWG...There aren't any maintenance costs...there aren't any inventories...there is just "beat stuff up"...I use to play Doom and Jedi Knights for the same reasons...whenever I needed a break, I'd go play them...
On the otherhand, when you do feel your frustration getting high, taking a break is a requirement...That's why I advise people to try a different game for awhile before quitting completely...It's nice to take a break, let tensions lower, then come back feeling fresh (especailly after you see all the bugs and issues in other MMOs...sometimes makes SWG look Golden)...
