I like it. Don't blanket TH with general questions. Right now we may have a good shot at this one. Nice Arguments and points. Don't hold your breath, but I too feel this is our best shot at attention.

I believe grenades would need the tweak of

1. Not costing as much for weaponsmiths to build, also built in higher quantity.

2. not harming the user

3. HAM cost = very low

4. much much more powerful than the bomb droids

5. maybe some special uses? like the Cyroban would snare your PVE enemy, the Gunk Grenade would cause a poison, etc, with the photon grenade causing the target to catch on fire, maybe the imperial detonator knocks down? used in a variety of situations.

for our HAR...sheesh someone else do this, I'm sure you'd know how to point this out better, really I think it just needs a good old Action DOT, and targets the action pool, while the flamethrower attacks the health pool, while our good old launcher pistol is give 4 or so abilities withen the heavy weapons tree that target the mind.

heavy weapons should remain the same in my opinion. just more blast radius. but thats just me.

Agreed Garvin.

Grenades it is.

When was the last time you tossed a grenade in PvP? PvE?

When was the last time someone tossed a poison? (dead horse question *grins*)

Why is there such a difference in "usage" of 2 throwen "weapons". Why can a vial be tossed ..well..I've have been hit at 109 meters..single poison, not area. While I can't even toss my nade half..or 1/3rd of that?....Why is it that theirs cost almost no ham(does it cost) to toss? Why is it that they dont get chaught in their own blast? Why is it that they get a 100% hitrate, while we toss and then have to pray, have a angel on our shoulder and the devil betting on us to hit?

There both thrown weapons, but one is encouraged to toss and toss and toss, while we..we don't even bother to toss ours, because EVERYTHING about our nades discourage us to use them.

Our profession, is the only profession who has limit after limit put on us, because we have a "heavy first strike" and heavy damage weapons. To fix us..we have to start small. Grenades would be our "babystep"..Seeing that the devs didnt even bother to look at the HAR when they "fixed" it.

Last time I used gernades in PvP was around 7 months ago when I demonstrated in front of 20 people in AH...how to incap oneself with proton gernades. It was a real demonstration as well....and I incapped myself and hurt myself more than I did my target...now imagine that in REAL PvP....

Why don't we just ask if we can combine the flamer and HAR trees and have a Launcher/Unarmed tree?

As I have said, as far as TH knows the combat balance is going to fix every aspect of commando (including the overlap of grenade damage with range). In fact, I seriously doubt that the devs would even consider making grenades to no damage to the thrower, as it is MUCH easer to just change the ideal range number and consider it "fixed."TH will not give the answer we want to this question, other than to say "combat balance."

Why don't we try asking a question about possibilities for the future, things NOT being possibly addressed by the combat balance. We need to ask about the Launcher/Unarmed tree...I am sick of getting combat balance as an answer, and we are again asking for that to happen with this question.

I can't remember the exact thread, but a long while back before the "19 Answers" we did ask that exact question to TH...Can we combine the HAR Tree with the FT Tree and have a new tree created?

TH's response was that the devs/programmers had no plans to combine the trees at this time...and it's my feeling that's still the EXACT response we'd get...straight and to the point...And if I recall it stated a fairly nasty flame attack on the Devs and is just one of the reasons we rarely see TH visit here anymore...It was TH's response that made us make this issue our #1 issue on our Top 5.

The Worst part, I can guarentee he'll even use the CB in his 19 Answers response as "Due to upcoming changes resulting from the Combat Rebalance, we are not considering at this time any possible merging of any Commando Skill Trees or the creation of any new trees."

The Devs and Programmers have set a pretty serious pressident lately when the specifically stated that Bomb Droids were configured purposely not to damage the user if caught in the blast radius...Bomb Droids apply damage based on the same principles that our grenades do, that anything caught in it's blast radius is damaged...If Bomb droids don't do damage to the user ON PURPOSE, then why do Grenades damage us? Before bomb droids I would agree that the Devs probably wouldn't consider this type of change, but after, I feel we have a fairly concrete case to push for this change...to me, now is the perfect time to push this issue...

Agreed Garvin... I actually just took up Smuggler, not for the droids, but im using them!! and if our grenades were half as effective I'd carry crates of them. As for the droids, I just pull out one before a big battle.. If I get swarmed, a cone 2 and 1 detonated droid later I'm surrounded by corpses. If not, so long as they're not crated, you can pull out as many droids as ya like. Very handy tool. So yeah shoot for the blast radius being removed on our grenades.

I didn't remember that exchange, but your logic makes good sense when considering that.

I am anxiously awaiting the combat rebalance to pass so we can start getting real answers again
