Thread: What I think we need now to make us at least viable.

I've thought about it, and given that they don't seem to be adding anything to our profession, how about taking something away, like the pointless unarmed requirement? the extra 29 skill points would placate me for a bit, until i remembered how much more effective fencers & TKMs are at a fraction the skill cost.
I think that we should get melee weapons, so keep a brawler line, but get rid of master marksman.

Careful guys. As soon as you start taking skill points away from us the worse our bargaining chips will become. Being tied with CMs and BHs in skill points as well as the most skill points devoted to combat puts us at the top of the pecking order for all of the combat professions. If we fall below them, we have nothing to say about our weaknesses.

Amen Ster.
Currently we may be the nonelite, hybrid combat class but I really don't want to see the commando profession become a Specialist class, based off Master Marksman. I hope they eather bring us more inline with the ranged portion of the bounty hunter profession personally.
Combining the specific FT and HARbranches into a generic Special Heavy Weaponsbranch to make room for a new ranged branch would be a good start (General Heavy Weapons skill, and Generic Special, ie Cone1 instead of Flamecone1).
Placing the 80% of the total ranged defense and 40% of the total state defenses in that new tree, with "commando" ranged attack specials (generic like ranged support branch), and add new speed/accuracy mods to add to the base marksman skills we already have (place 80% of them in this branch).
Update the Tactics branch with a grenade throw range improvements, Place 80% of the total melee defense and 40% of the total state defenses. Add in "commando" melee attack specials (generic like the new ranged attacks), ieTripping (knockdown),Smashing (smack the target with the weapon), and Spearing (poke target with weapon, and pull trigger).
Up the amount of charges per disposable launcher or make thereload system work, generalize the specific weapon skill modifiers into HW skill mods, and I think we would be pretty much set.
Master box would givethe last20%of the ranged defense, melee defense, state defenses, and ranged weapon skills. We also give 1 new special for the ranged commando, melee commado, and merge the FT and HAR special attacks.
This would make all the branches viable, still leave reasons to dabble into commando, but also give masters a reason to keep commando.
We should be better at using basic weapons than our parent profession (Master Markman).
Concerning Commando melee attacks I feel that the base to hit should be ranged based, not melee based, but should still be considered a melee attack. (akin pistol melee defense)?

This may be a dead horse, but if its true that weve beat it too death, then maybe there is something that needs to be addressed.
Dont kill the messenger. Kill the devs for not fixing us for so damn long.
Like I said before I wasnt singling him out or saying that his points were wrong or anything. I am just on these boards so much and see the same things over and over that I felt like saying something about it. His thread was correct, just been said before with no response from the people we need one from.
