This is happening with all types of xp atm. Purely graphical. Make note of your xp when you see you stop getting it. Hit shift+esc, do a quick disconnect and relog right back in, and you'll see your xp was accruing the whole time. Not just heavy weapons, pistols, rifles...camping...ch...crafting. All types.

Or maybe you should switch off from your flamethrower against 100% heat immune critters/npc's = p
