There's a few of us out at Nym's. Do you know if it's a bug or intended that group levels cap at 80? It makes it hard to kill stuff that's 133 since they're hitting us for 3k damage...

You ain't kidding, a full group of us went to the DWB to check it out... Wow... the spawn rate hasn't been slowed it seems and put it like this... I got dropped in2 shots with MC/MBH + 0/0/0/4 Carbineer. The group consisted of 2 tanks, 2 healers, a tank/ranged hybrid, and 2 heavy damage ranged. We got smoked when we first entered... regrouped, and went a little more careful, but we were still occasionally getting triple incapped as it became our turn to get hit by the overpowering dmg from the level difference. It was fun riding out there, it was fun shooting the first shot... it was not fun when a fight lasted even longer than on live to kill a battledroid (not sbd mind you... the basic battledroid) and they were respawning faster than you could kill them as the group alternated being incapped.

I think Battledroids were like CL135ish and SBD's were CL225... so yeah they hit HARD, wouldn't matter if you bothered to wear armor and a psg or not

a few issues with CU so far:

NPC have not been balanced. I run up against asmall ggroupof NPC's at rank 20....im a level 80. The NPC's have a decent chance of taking me out. Is this intended? Do we need a full group to wander the streets of the cities on tatooine?

If my group of 8 runs into a creature or NPC 60 levels above us, it just goes around the group incapping us all until we're all on our way to the cloner...

High level content...harsh. Nyax double taps for an incap. Elders 1 hit. Krayts....well, they just look at you funny and your on the way to the cloner.

Also, I was slightly confused while looking over the different armors....

Recon armor- Good energy, less kinetic

battle armor- average

Assault armor- good kin, less energy

Lightsabers will be doing energy damage last i heard, and it seems to me that recon armor would be the way to go. But they are certified for assault armor. I was under the impression (wrongly) that the armor would have pro/con but that it would be....different. Recon armor is light armor...providing better protection against energy. BUT that it would not be as good as battle armor. But, if you average all the armor stats, they're all the same, just with their better protects in different categories.

I guesscommandoes are going to have to limit their templates and take something that gives them recon armor as their secondary.....

Shouldnt the armor be far more different?

on example, using percentages instead of the current stats:

recon armor:

Kin: 20%

energy: 40%

Battle armor:

Kin: 30%

energy: 30%

assault armor

kin: 60%

energy: 40%

with the hinderances being larger for each type as you go down the list of course. this is what i thought they were introducing with the new armor....

Just what I have been thinking. Anything labeled recon armor should be light with more limited protection. Anything labeled assault armor should be stronger, but more combersome.

You must unlearn what you have learned... Recon armor is not equal to "light". Assault armor is not equal to "heavy". In general, energy is more common among ranged weapons and kinetic is more common among melee weapons. Therefore, the general trend is to put recon in the trees of "stay in back, I don't want to get hit toe to toe" professions, battle in the balanced professions, and assault for the folks who get to mix it up up close and personal.

It is interesting that lightsabers are energy, but on the other hand, wouldn't you have to be pretty nuts to charge down a jedi with a lightsaber with a melee weapon?

It would be a bad move to make one armor class inherently better or worse than the others. For one thing, it would really shaft the professions that got stuck with the inferior types. Plus, now we'll actually see people in a great variety of armor, instead of the current "Attack of the Clones" in comp armor.

So what proffessions have you all tried Commando with? I think that is an interesting topic to begin discussing. I coupled it with carbineer and had decent success ,suppression fire is a real crowd toaster

Firest thing I did was pick up MC/MR and 0440 TKA. I put on a PSG, duel'd someone, and got hit for 1k damage 3x (it was a bounty hunter). I'm thinking PSG's are nullifying TKA innate armor, as of now, hehe.

I'm seriosuly having to re-evalute what my goals were (which is a good thing). Rifleman seems to 'in the back' for me now... I think I'm going to end up going with BH over rifleman, and flat out scrap TKA (which makes me kinda sad... I was looking forward to being able to run around in my camo trenchcoat) in favor of carbineer or smuggler.

May be duelist stance raptor, im hearing that may be a bit unbalanced atm in terms of damage reduction/damage to you increase...don't know...but our hvy weapons with carbine skills can shoot for up to 740 dmg in PvP...so may just be that!

Yeah. BH is listed as one of the tank professions. Using their own skills, their damage output is supposed to be mediocre (3 out of 5). When combined with the damage output of the commando (supposed to be 5 out of 5), well... -evil grin-

BTW, is it too late to sign up for TC to try this stuff out? If not, what does one have to do to join up?

EDIT: Do you still have to grind out your template, or can you just pick it up off the frog?
