Hehe, I could see something kinda like the crack-down happening, except with around 10 shuttles instead of one. Full of Nova Troopers. 
And of course we can't forget folks like Mara Jade that can sneak up on yah as well, among other lesser BH's like Bossk, Zukkus, etc.
I wouldn't care, because I'm going to level up jedi in a way that's so secret, folks shouldn't even know I'm one. (kinda ruined that with this post, didn't I?) Which reminds me, why the heck would you ever willingly change your title to jedi padawan? That's like painting an enourmous red target on yourself and coating it in flourescents.

I got glowy today as well while helping some friends on the warren quest. I havent seen the old dude yet though.
All I can say is that I better be able to find some way to work Master Commando into my uber-leet Jedi Ganker Template (tm).

I met the old man today, after some polite frisking he gave me the rock. Funny thing though... i wasn't even expecting him. On the day of launch i was only surging, i did the compassion badge and became a glowy. Read the post by TH saying that unless you already were able to do it before patch 10, you would have to wait. No big deal. Took a jedi mission onto yavin, my RL gf logged on and i had to bring her with us (a funny story and with me apoligizing just so i can stay out of the doghouse) she only had an x-34 landspeeder so i get off my swoop and give it to her and get on my speederbike... just as the bike pops up... up runs the old man.
I laughed at it, got the crystal, went and killed two jedi. Later I was wandering around a few player cities in search of the krayt painting and poof, sith attack... i'm like **edit**? killed em on autoattack.
so i finally make it to dathomir, go to the village and get inside... 5 trees granted... mastered professions: marks, scout, SL, commando, smuggler... thats it. My first holo told me to do BH and i was like, screw that. I finished off commando and smuggler, the next holo was silent...

you dont need to do any holo's ive done none and am glowing , but theme parls and badges help alot , but wwell done on the lold geezer visiting you

Update:
170,000 FS Xp from all the bloody xp Ive had stored up lol! (Plus 100k/10k HW/Combat xp i havent converted yet...a good 6.6k there)
Commando wasn't my destiny.... 
(holos werent commando/marksman...)

Just as some random advice, if you guys get a free unlock, I highly recomend using at least one on Crafing Mastery: Repair.
I'm not lying when I say that I took some VK's that were at 150/570 condition and repaired them to 950/950.

Gah. I've been glowing since Tuesday and that old **edit** still hasn't visited me. When I check my force status it says, "You feel an inner glow. The Force is with you."
That means I'm ready for the old man right? Thing is, I've only completed two themeparks and I've heard you need three.
Still though, I've been waiting forever for this guy...

Suppousedly you need 5 content badges - can involve: 4 Themeparks, 9 Corvette Badges, 2 Warren
I however do have 3 Themepark badges, both warren, and Neutral Destroy/Rebel Rescue on the corvette....
But if you're inner glow, you should be elgibible for the old geezer so the devs say....usually he appears when you shuttle/log in and out, or just walk rather than take your vech out...

Started glowing on friday came back from work on the sunday evening logged in and ran about abit got jumped by some tuskens then as i was kicking tusken ass the old man runs up gives me crystal and runs off for i cld flame him (figured if i cld kill the old man then i cld keep the jedi population down) any ways point is i never even opened a holo never mastered any proff except marksman to get commando and have less than thirty badges... perhaps the devs did listen and remove the gaate ?
