I'm absolutely staying commando. Hehehe, was in for a nice surprise reading Garibaldi's posts, considering the fact that the launcher pistol will be able to use Pistoleer moves. I went Pistoleer upon seeing how bad Commando was, so I've already got the skills. Took Pistoleer just till Commando got fixed. Now I get to use both in tandem.

The launcher pistol by it self is not worth staying commando. If I want to be a pistoleer I will be a MASTER pistoleer. (which i'm doing now). you can't become a master pistoleer and keep commando. by dumping commando I was also able to be come a master in another elite profession.

So basically you are devoting almost 100 skill points just so you can use the launcher pistol.

Actually, it's more like 100 skill points in the hopes that the other heavy weapons will eventuallygive out huge damage. Unfortunately,it looks likethe pistol will become the "primary" weapon and the way to gain HW xp. This is hopefully just a band-aid. For an elite profession, it seems like a weak primary weapon. We'll just have to see what happens.

And I think you can be master pistoleer and master commando. But, not everyone wants to be a pistoleer. Some people might want to mix it up. This is an unfortunate and hopefully temporary situation.

MrValentine,

You CAN be a master commando and a master Pistoleer. You will have exactly 17 points left over to put into another skill. Not a lot of options.

In my estimation, commandos in this game are meant for people who want to do nothing but combat ALL the time. It would be wise to train up to master of aspecific weapon type, and also be a commando, if the commando path is the path you choose. Due to the changes to the Launcher pistol, Pistoleer is really the only viable option if you want to get the most bang for buck as a commando. Unless they also change the HAR to grant Rifle specialist special moves. Coupled with improved Commando Specials' Damage+Master Rifle Specialist, a Commando will be the absolute most destructive force in the game. (exluding the non-existant Jedi of course)

Of course, they have to iron out all of the details with ALL of the weapons. For gameplay reasons, the damage dealt from a commando has to be in-line with the other combat professions: Personally I disagree with this. Because of the lack of viable options for a commando to choose, commando's should out damage everyone all of the time.

Im gonna have to agree after hearing there response. I truly believe they dont think nothing is wrong with the commando. So im beginning to believe that they will tweak this and that but wont do anything about it thats worth waiting for im sorry. Im about to log on and start leveling up that scouting xp cause Im gonna go for a bounty hunter and make my master marksman worth my time.

They are even getting a power up along with us so after seeing how powerfull they are currently, they can only get better with more damage given to them.

As they stand right now, it doesn't matter what you use on them, unless you have a ranged knockdown you might as well use that launcher pistol to fire 4 rockets into your skull cause he will hand your a$$ to you in a heartbeat. He will use fireknockdown that of course knocks you down but WAIT...it also does 300 dmg a tick burn dmg and cause MASSIVE WOUNDS. It will leave during the course of the DOT roughly 600 wounds.

So thats where I stand after seeing them....I just dont think the commando fix is going to be even worth waiting for im sorry

also they never did say anything about the resources other than they wanted to keep them rare. But by RARE i guess that meens no one will ever see a flamethrower on Tarquinas. Some of you have been able to go up the HW tree but for the rest of us we basically wasited that 40k combat cause we could have used it for some kind of other move like a fire knockdown in carbines or melee defense and been able to stick with the rest of the pack...so it has been a long time. Like i said in the before post, they obviously don't think anything is wrong and if they dont think anything is wrong then your not going to get the attention you want.

I think everyone is staying commando cause they honestly believe the commando is going to kick some major butt with the fix and the complaining is so far mild compared to what your gonna hear if the fix is as worthless as I'm expecting

A couple of things will stop me from being Commando.. or even playing SWG all together

1. If weapons and skills still remain SEVERELY underhanded in 1 months time

2. No reduction or graphic option to control the excess explosion and particle FX generated by commando weapons.

the more of you that quit because you want to be uber l337 the better. Hopefully Commandos will get a reputation for being a class of good players.

Actualy I am going ot stay mostly because...well...it is kind of an odd reason.

Back in EQ I played a shadow knight. When the game came out (yes I started almost right after beta) I started my SK and it was hard. We just didn't have the spells we needed or the abilities to be an effective class. Sat around looking for group all hte time...no one wanted you. I got really good at soloing and mastered my class on my own.

Then later...the role of hte class was finaly understood...notice I said understood not *changed*. Yes the class was enhanced some but mostly peolpe finsaly understood what i was SK's were ment for. This took...well...a long time. But when people understood suddenly there were SK twinks all over the server.

So i will stick it out on hte principal that sometimes when a game starts the role of a class is not really understood untill new content is added. It is just too soon to tell or make a judgement. It is clear to me now that we are a class that is designed for grouping... so I will be working within that context for a whle and see how it turns out. A while could turn out to take a bit =). Like longer than a month or 2 =). But I cna play around with TK and Pistoleer in that time too and maybe some rifleman... who knows...

I know most of you will disagree with the logic of why I am staying but...I don't really intend to just be done with SWG in a few months...most games add a lot of content after launch... and sony is known for doing more than most. I will just wait and see.

Just wait a while guys.

They have this correspondant scheme so at least they are starting to listen.

I'm a bio-engineer and our ability to /sampledna is not even in the abilities list. We have to make a macro :S and then none of our tissue engineered stuff has even got descriptions

The first month was all about making the game as a whole good (server fixes) Proffessions will have their time
