something like what the smugglers do with sliceing if we could go up to a turret plant a charge and run the charge would need a timer to let an enemy commado try to disarm it mines would be good but that adds into the lots people have so anything a commando uses needs to go away in a time even if it has not been used or destroyed

As a soon to be Master Commando, I agree that the Acid rifle should be replaced or at least lumped in with the flamethrower so we could use a third and possibly better type of weapon such as a variation of the T21 rifle. I would also like to point out that the flamethrower and acid rifle do not seem to work any faster when you apply Heavy Weapon speed skill tapes. I spent 2.5 Million credits on a +13 Heavy Weapon Speed skill tape and after measuring the speed of my Flame Thower and Acid Rifle, I cannot detect even a fraction of a speed change. Needless to say, I am quite upset with my purchase and I am seeking to sell the Composite Armor Gloves I attached the speed tape to since I obviously spent a ton of money in vain.

If anyone can tell me why this speed tape doesn't seem to work at all, pleassssseeee do so!

I would like to see a Concussion Rifle as seen the first Jedi Knight game, in the game it does massive damage, has 2 differnt forms of fire(1 is area), andit would cause a stun and/or knockdown. That would be awsome

I believe we should take the heavy support wepaons and the acid rifle tree merge them and throw out the acid rifle. Next i thin ka wepons more along the lines of a disruptor rifle or teh concussion rifle, somethign that is both heavy armor piercing and wroks effective to comp armor. Face it, when someone thinks of a commando they think of an elite force that fears no one or no proffession but just some thoughts, oh and add an ion bomb toteh game for stun damage

Ok, so here's a little suggestion... not sure if this has been mentioned; I couldn't be bothered to go through all 7 pages of replys

In the Jedi Knight games (Jedi Knight II and Jedi Academy at least, anyway) there was a weapon in there called an Imperial Heavy Repeater. Basically, this is the JK series' version of the Assault Rifle found in other FPS in that it was not only a machine gun weapon, but also had a grenade launcher attached - even better, they were concussion grenades!

Personally, I think the inclusion of a new skill tree to do with an Assault Rifle type weapon is a great idea - and plus, with the weapon i described above, there's an obvious special there... normal fire is, obviously, the normal machine gun fire, while one of the specials could be the concussion grenade launcher which could do a nice load of damage, along with stunning the target as well - how peachy would that be!?

Now, i'm not gunna put down the kind of stats I think the weapon should have, cos i have no idea myself - there are all kinds of balance issues that need to be taken in to account, but needless to say, it should be very fast firing, and very high damage .

So... whaddya think?

Wanted to make a statement about assault rifles. Assault rifles would not be the domain of Commandos. They are not heavy weapons. They are rifles and would belong to Riflemen as such.

But as heavy weapon specialists the Commando would have GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun) and heavier weapons. These are not the standard infantryman weapons.

The way I see it is this. Commandos in SWG are not "Commandos". They are heavy weapon specialists. More specificaly they are support weapon crews. This is not saying Commandos are a support profession. A support weapon is bascially any weapon that generally requires a crew. Examples are mortars, artillery, heavy machine gunners, anti-tank weapons, etc. I'm using support in the military context, not as a role context.

But how would you add heavy machine guns? One suggestion I've seen here before is the E-Web or something similar. The trick is how do you enable it use it's high rate of fire when there really isn't RoF in the game? Same way they have been doing it. All specials with it would be AoE attacks. I see AoE attacks as representing high rates of fire. Mainly because you can hit multiple targets with a single use of the special. The other factor is you keep the delay mod for using the special low. A good example of this is StrafeShot2 for Riflemen. It's an AoE attack and has a lower delay mod than say their MindShot. This represents automatic fire from an assault rifle.

The Commando version would be beefed up version of that for example. Or you may not even have to do that much. Given a weapon with a higher damage, you could just use the coding for StrafeShot2 and plug it in for a Commando weapon. Overall damage would be higher because of the higher base damage and makes sense since you are using a heavier weapon.

Hey...from my military war buff friend today...he was talking about something with Hvy Weapons Specialists....and he mentioned the M60 SAW...

Rambo used that as an Assault Rifle..when its really more like an E-webb...

Riflemen are SNIPERS, they are not the backbone of an army (aka the Infantry Class from infantry online..who used primarily the assault rifle...meanwhile the SNIPER/Infiltrator...used stealth and had a regular RIFLE...not a fast firing one)

Think of the Assault Rifle being more carbine like than rifleman but retaining the punch of a rifle (but much faster)...its a hybrid, so technically neither Carbineer nor Rifleman has dibs on it.

Oh...and if you think Riflemen should get an Assault Rifle type...think again, you guys already got it with the Dxr-6 (I have a Rifleman on valcyn....that thing is exactly what alot of us here want as an Assault Rifle)

Last but not least....the arguement that commandos should not get an Assault Rifle, cuz riflemen specialize in Rifles...you can just throw that arguement out the window since we both take the same Rifles IV pre-req. Albiet, Riflemen will be stronger in sniping and stealth/accuracy than us....but then again, isnt that the entire purpose of "Master Sharpshooter"

Concluding...show me a Sniper/Sharpshooter who uses an Assault Rifle from long range....AR's are generally used by Infantry (aka Carbineers/pistoleers)....but they're also used by Special Ops (BHs and Commandos...BH has a carbine btw...so that ties that in...we dont) and in closer quarters or at least a closer range.

Many people scoff at the commando community that we're trying to get every good skill/weapon in the game...atm we dont really have a purpose. Riflemen do...don't try and tell us that Riflemen should get a weapon thats out of line with their purpose...and especially to a group of commandos who have no purpose (hence is unfair to even compare us to RL commandos or Hvy weapons...we dont know what the CB will entail...nor a revamp...therefore any arguement based behind that shaky foundation is void)

I love the idea of sorting commando out, as i've been a master for months. I think putting the HAR into the flame tree rocks as an idea, and so its the idea of a support weapon.

But...

Your ideas on this thread are STUPID.

Your asking for a gun that does 500-1200 damage, stun and 0.5 speed.....dosn't that sound a bit.....well...obsurd. A commando is a support class, not a super heavy weapon arnie strolling around with a gun mowing down 50 evil henchman a second with unlimited ammo, spurting one-lines quicker than bullets.

The commado needs a support weapon. Somthing that on its own is not a powerful weapon, but in a group, used in support (hence the name) rocks.

I would suggest the following stats.

Colslaw(Commando Operation Light Squad Laser Assault Weapon)

AP: Light

Damage 100-300

Speed 4

Damage: Blast

Min -50 @ 20m

Ideal +20 @ 40m

Max +0 @64m

Special 1:

Covering Fire:

Status effect: Delayed for 5 secons, posture change. - Change of the target being delayed (like warcry) and posture change down.

Special 2:

Full auto:

Status effect: Puts 2 random status effects on the target (Stun, Dizzy, Blind, Intimidated, Delayed)

Special 3: (At Master)

Pour it on them:

Status effect: Puts 2 random status effects on the target as full auto, but can also knock down.

Summary

With a gun like this, the damage is limited so its not a PvP winning weapon alone, and the commado will still not be suited to solo PvP, but in a squad with others, the status effects could tip the odds of the battle, leaving the commado at a support role.

These are my ideas and I also have them on my other thread "An Idea about stealth and foxholes":

Okay, this was just being discussed in one of Garvin's threads and I really love the idea of foxholes!

Definition ofFoxholes: trenches manually built by each commando. Master Commando required. Each foxhole allows for the better ranged def. for only one commando. With the added protection, you get a better accuracy modifier than even going prone! An auto weapon would also be added (for example the e-web, or some sort of def/assult rifle allowing fast shots at the expense of large damage). The auto weapon would be in turret form, allowing for pivoting in a full 360 degrees circle. While a commando is in a foxhole, his melee def. takes a small negative modifier (this resembles the prone and kneeling stance negative modifiers). For a commando to disband a foxhole, there would be a small terminal (like the ones used in camps) with a radial menu allowing the function 'disband'. It would not matter whether the commando was under attack or not but would take the duration of 20 seconds to disband a foxhole.

Something I thought up:

Definition of the Support Shields:the support shield would be the main defense for a commando stuck in a foxhole. Any level commando would have the ability to build these on the battlefield. The attack stance would be at a kneeling stance, giving the same modifiers as the normal stance except a better ranged def. modifier. There would be a couple disadvantages: one, the def. arc would be only in front of you (180 degrees area arc) and two, melee opponents would have the advantage again.

Okay this is a really cool idea I just thought up of:

Definition of the Commando Ground Assult Vehicle (CGAV): this ground assult vehicle would pack two kinetic guns with low armor piercing and a portable foxhole/turret on the top. This vehicle would allow for a better system of transport in base attacks, swiftly dropping 4 commandos/personnel at a time. The personnel inside would be unable to attack beside operating the guns and turret. Each gun would have a HAM of 40k with only a low armor rating while the turret would have a HAM of 35k with medium armor rating. The vehicle itself would have a HAM of 75k with medium armor rating. This vehicle would be best in transporting vital soldiers to a battle.

(HAM and speed of vehicle would vary depending on the quality of the build)

Of course all the different things here would depend on the quality of the build done by the artisan. Also these things could be refined to just being built by master commandos and be very difficult to build.

I would suggest all these things to be applied to SWG but ONLY after the next expansion with space and bugs were worked completely out. This would be considered used with the "Commando Revamp".

The Commando Stealth Pullover (CSP shirt)- working title, could be changed

Description:

The CSP shirt would be a particular piece of clothing that would increase stealth ability types. The modifiers would include a plus to the following: camoflauge, mask scent, and cover. Qualification for wearing this: Field Tactics IV. The schematic for this clothing would only be obtained by a new type of quest that would be located on Endor. The test would be only accesible by commandos and would be even difficult for the master commando. This would make this schematic and clothing type rare. Only master commandos would be able to make this clothing (refining it only for the commando profession completely).

Okay, everyone doesn't like how the rocket launchers run out so fast. So what about the Quad Rocket Bazooka (QRB)!

Description:

This would be a special quad rocket casing. One of these newely built weapons would be empty but have the ability of 4 different rocket launchers being placed in the magazine. The numbers would add up: for example, let's say there are 20 rounds in each of the 4 rocket launchers allowing for 80 rounds in the QRB's magazine!

The QRB would not be a perishable weapon but would run out of ammo eventually and need to be refilled. This would make all of us commandos a bit happier and keep the perishability the devs seem to want.

Not sure if some of this was listed in earlier posts of this thread cuz I don't have the time to read all 100!

Just my 2 cents worth since I'm a master commando.
