i'm assuming that you're master commando, so you will have 81 skill points to play with....

well let's see..... if you wanted defenses, i would get tka 4304 and pistoleer 0044
this will give you lots of state defense (+70 knockdown for instance) lots of melee/ranged defense, power boost/force of will/meditate from tka, melee mitigation 2and will also give you some cool specials to use with the launcher (well actually just fanshot andpistol melee defense1)

for offense, without question atm you should got rifleman and you would still have 18 skill points left over
does anyone know if rifle mods help the commando rifle? if it does that *might* help lol
but if you want offense from another profession, why use commando?

as for carbineers, maybe one of them can help you out.... i've heard that most pick up bounty hunter to be useful.... as do a lot of pistoleers /shrug

I personally love pistoleer (and am one of the few that still believes they are useful and not broken). The specials are great with the launcher pistol. But it all depends on what you are going after. If PvP is the goal, then a defence build is best combining TKM and pistoleer as the above posters stated. If PvE is your game, then Pistoleer is my choise as it gives you (along with master commando) every dmg type in game. It also confers very good defences (as fencer and pistoleer have the best state defences in game). Carbineer is good if you like to apply state defences (they dizzy, KD, stun, blind, bleed action and posture change). The only advantage Rifleman has for a commando is damage output with the T21 heavy armor piercing in my opinion (I am not a fan on rifleman). Although smuggler may be a nice addition for you (decent pistol specials) and feign death (works nicely with the flame dots).

Riflemen get higher ranged defence (70, as opposed to 7) and comparable melee defence (40, as opposed to 45)

I'll admit fanshot with an LP is nice though.

i'm a master commando/master 2hand sword. haven't done a lot of killing as i'm working on riflman on my other account, but i can definately due damage to tuskens. hit them with a flame 2 single or cone, then come in and do an area attack if there is more than one. have even dropped dizzy on warlords and they kept falling down over and over so grabbed my acid launcher and shot him about 4 times.

You can almost cap out doing Master Commando, Master TKA, and using the rest of your points in rifleman or pistoleer defenses.

Now I'll have enough skill points to master another whole elite profession! But which would you guys choose?

I was thinking probably TKM would be the best due to the knockdown and all but I find that many types of creatures are also resistant to kinetic too! So what you all think?

I took a look at rifleman, very good due to long range combat and concealment and many different types of weapons can be used! (cold, energy, ect.) Also, I could use the masterful T21!

Also, carbineer is one of the most unused and underspoken profs I hear people talk about but it has a knockdown attack! Also with many different weapon choices! (acid, energy, ect.)

And then there's pistoleer! LOL, not many different specials, and weak but fast weapons. One very good thing is that there are very many many different weapons choices!

I'm stuck guys, and getting some of your opinions will be very helpful! I'm talking about PvE right now not PvP, so keep that in mind! But rifleman is very good for PvP too! hmmm /ponder Well that's it!

TKA 4/0/0/0, then whatever defence combo you can get (though I recall a combo with fencer and pistoleer gave garvin a huuge amount of defences)

All sounds good guys!

I'll do some experimenting with some ideas I have now and get back to you all later to tell you if I picked an effective approach or not.

Go TKA. Nothing beats knocking down the enemy, then usinging Flame2 for 12-15+k damage! During the delay for flame, unequip your rifle which makes TKA damage mitigation kick in as well as unarmed toughness. Enemy damage drops 75%+. que knockdown on the next enemy. Rinse and Repeat

My choice is going to be extremely clost to that shinton!

I'm going to get 3 trees in TKA and 1 tree in rifleman, giving me the power of commando, defense of TKA, and long range and ultimate T21 of the rifleman!

This is going to take forever due to not being a power grinder but everyone should have a goal and this is mine!

Last thing tho, which 3 trees in TKA ???

Oh well, thnaks to all for the input!

peace out!

...hmm..

These days everyone has status defence.. it is rare to find any of the hardcore PvP gang without it.. unless they are a BH.. and then they better be taped. TKA is a good deal since u already have it started for commando.. but in pvp, TKA is not doing much these days.. KD/Dizzies are mostly a thing of the past due to food and the fact that CoB DOUBLES your resistance to KD.. without CoB, Status resists have a hard cap at 90%. no matter if u have 110 in KD resist, everyone will get a 10% chance (defaulted) to KD u...

UNLESS, u are in a CoB.. this also doubles the hard defences that are capped at 125pts.. in a CoB, that rifleman with fencer capped at 125 in each defence will have 250.. only way to go past the cap.

Combat equilibrium is the other big savior from KD/Dizzy. I personally have +70KD, +55 dizzy, and +70 combat Equilibrium. the Equilibrium makes it easier to recover from all posture changes. EX. I was in a battle last night against 3 TKA hybrids and a carbineer. I got KD/Dizzied at least 6-8 times. I never fish flopped. The guys on the other side and I talked after it was over.. they told me that it was amazing how fast I recovered from the KD/Dizzies they were all throwing.. they were like 'we could not get u to stay down..

Why? because in the CoB and on the run I have 140 resist to KD, 110 to dizzy, 236 dodge (118 normal), and a blind attack which worsens it for them. (by the way.. I took that carbineer and 2 of the TKA's.. I am a FoTM.. it is what I do) The carbineer dropped easy due to the fact that he had low defence.. was not CoB'd and holding that ranged weapon that made my accuracy go from 123 to 308 (with the 2.5 multiplier, which goes for your pistol and FT too!)

- If u want to pvp u will have to have melee mitigation and a CoB.. there is no way u wanna fight that melee user with a FT or pistol in your hand. That would be like just GIVING them your faction. I fought a Fencer/Commando about a week ago (commandos are rare in PvP these days due to the broken lines in the tree) He did not fare too well but that is because he tried to use the FT too much.

- The FT will hurt people ONLY if:

A) They are an NPC

B) they have no armor on and are unbuffed

C) if the top end of the damage on that zippo is over 4k and the speed is 2.0 or lower

-It is actually the reason I am not a commando anymore.. 167 pts got me 2 profs that work, I will be back to it when they fix it..It looks like about 3-6 months away tho, and then prolly after the SE comes out. Don't listen to the hard knox fools.. do not keep commando if u are an avid pvp'er, it will only get u killed fast, these days every top dog on the GCW scene wears a PSG. which means that they are most likely resistant 90% to your heat attack.. against a buffed 70% compo wearing target a FT with a damage of 933-1465 2.6 will give u a healthbar tick of about 70-110pts .. against 90% u are looking at only wounds... AND for that u will give your targets more accuracy to hit u when they are attacking with melee... If u actually KD/Dizzy the guy, in 70% compo that flamesingel2 will do about120-220 dmg..

Now.. with a substat buffed over 1600, a targets health bar will regen 200 every 5 seconds, if he has it at 2k, which I basically stick to.. he will regen about 350 every 5 seconds... do the math.. no future for the commando's one trick.. rockets work better in pvp these days.

I hate to disagree but you're a bit off on the FT!

The FT is the weapon that does make a difference for the commando! The flamesingle 2 might not do extreme damage in PvP but it will set em on fire and unless they have a doc or CM with quick reflexes in extreme combat situations, they will get DOT a couple of times! The wounds do make a big difference with DOT at least 1-2 times (you'll get LOTS of wounds which makes it tuff for the enemy)!

And for one, the FT does great damage anyway! I did a friendly game of dueling the other day with no specials and the guy was wearing full composite! I almost got him and would have definitely got him if I had had a flamer that shot the same or quicker than his!

And anyway, most full composite suits are being geared towards kinetic, energy, and stun resists, not much heat suits are being made! Even if the suit was 70 percent heat and the guy was dealing kinetic attack, and I was at 80-90% kinetic resists, I'd be at the advantage! I don't care about the math, I'm having a great time with these good owl flamers! I'll got to fort tusken (unbuffed) and I can take on 3-4 tusken raiders easily and I could take on 2 chiefs even! All just because of that FT that you say is no good! And not to mention, most of the tuskens have 30% and up heat resists, but the resists are no match for my speed sliced FT that only has 890 about max attack lol!

I'm sticking with thecommando prof mainly because of the fun involved! And if you get 3 or more commandos together, you got one TKM or even 2 TKM in big trouble!

Only prob would be the Master Rifleman! They have the range, but heck, get master rifleman with master commando and you're a threat to both the Rifleman, carbineer, TKA, and almost any other combat prof. And a BH is no match usually to the FT!

Also, that will be my final choice! I'm going master commando and master rifleman! I don't care much bout dodge and all that jazz, I'm out to have fun!

I didn't mean this to be a spam against ya but some of what you said wasn't necessarily true!

But I don't care if you don't like the commando, just be a rifleman or something like that, I'll be content where I am

Peace out!
