The Newbie Commando thread is being closed down, now with the advent of more folks attaining Master Commando and working on other professions, among other things, I want to now focus in on the experiences of an elite commando - close or fully mastered template.

I would like your feedback in the following format and pertaining to the following points:


Experience

-Describe your experience with attaining Master Commando, how you went about grinding it from Novice to Master as well as how you used it to with other professions

Issues/Concerns

-Does a full template feel balanced? (Please report full template reports in the 2nd Focus Thread, strengths and weaknesses among other things...and focus experience here)
-Do our weapons work well with other profession's specials? (experience here...please post bugs in the commando bug thread)

Special Abilities

-Do our innate abilities need some tuning?
-How well do they work?
-Grenade Feedback

My first empression *drool* THE WEAPONS PARTICLE ANIMATIONS ARE AMAZING *drool* these are commando weapons indeed. thou i do belive even as master its not delivarying a very strong pounding on my enemys. oh, plz get animation for rocket launcher fixed.


have focused on one temp so far when tc gets back up ill try Pikemen,Commando


i dont feel like im burning my enemys enough is there away to make the flame happen more and it looks real for once! yeah they look like there on fire!

my experiece is mixed so far


im Mcommando/doc4-4-0-4/smuggler4-0-0-0


found myself great addition in group pve


but sad in duels and pvp


because...

lack of special damage bonus'

fire only stuck like 1/10 shots

kd/dizzy and your down for ever without dizzy recov skill


found that i was doing weak damage in comparison to CM or rifleman build players

also with only one master proff i was only 76 level no 80 level for me


...in adition i had to target myself to heal myself again...

... and at-st pets one shot incap people right now... guess it is to hard for developers to see that coming and actually balance it be open testing real brain teaser lol... not

Master Commando/Master Doctor/Novice Carbineer.


I suppose it's ok. Useful in PvP against toughter stuff cos can heal, Res and buff. Also the innate abilities on the weapons work better now. Overall Average damage output, good support in PVE. PVP, don't bother. I'll test a bit more and add to this if I find anything good to say

What about combining commando weapons with other professions specials. Does this increase your damage output to be useful for PvP? Tryin' to get some hard info on whether or not the game will be worth playing come May 5th.

I am a Master Commando/Master Carbineer on TC. From what i saw the only reason for commando is the speed and accuracy bonuses. I do the same damage with the master level carbine that i do with the Plasme FT. Level 40 carbine outdamges level 40 commando weapons.


The fire DOT rarely sticks but all having commando does it let me basically have charge shot 2 like i have on live because i can get the area effect with the FT. Dont want commando to be Uber but it is more useful to me in live than it is in TC it seems.


But most of the commando weapons are useless blind rarely stuck, damage was weak.


Every single carbine special worked with the FT but some of the carbine specials seem redundant.


Kinda disappointing experience overall.

MC/TKM Found that I had high defense stats, but against high level mobs was taking hits for 2K -10K. Would make it difficult to tank with these hits. Had full composite assault armor and use plasma FT.

have gone Mcommando/Mbh/smuggler0-0-4-0


commando/doc was just to weak, therefore dont think commando/cm will be much better


build gives

aoe for everything if i want

range with lightning beam cannon nice and dot with it, proton rifle will be nice also i bet

dizzy and kd recov

dizzy and kd attacks

bh pistol for no aoe when will agro to much in pve

freign for pve

root - key key key

bh critical shot and bleed shot nice to cycle between for high damage


other bonus' can hunt jedi, and 2 prof to blow bases.


weakness

no healing

ham can run out fast, but do damage fast

dont waste time inside 30m kite/root/kd'dizzy melee get kd/dizzy off very easily making 25m range of proton flame a waste


CM/melee build with root skills is death and guy beat me atleast 2/3 of the time


find new system interesting, but dont see it as balanced, there will still be FoTMs just a few more then before.


just get a friend with doc in build and friend with cm in build to team up with and you'll be set for long fights.

think there will be lots of cms but docs maybe hard to find

Is anyone else having problems with the proton rifle? I can equip it but it never fires.


I must saw in PVP the commando carbineer is working nicely I have beat a commando/BH easily and a pikeman of some sort

keep in mind, you can use stimds if you're level 60 i think, so there goes that

i was thinking of dropping rifles 0400 and taking that line in smuggler to supplement MC/MBH

I ground my template with help from Vin and Lok mostly....many others helped though...and OMG was grinding 4000 BH on bases a pain lol...KUDOS TO LOK AND VIN !!!!

(didn't grind SL....was going to do that today...but there were frogs about when i logged in if you know what im saying )


This template gives lots of defense....


BUT, it seems to not stand up to previous promises...


PvP is actually faster than it used to be.

Dizzy/KD is the end all for people without the "Dizzy Recovery" skill, worse than in live...

Ihave over 220 in both ranged and melee defense, then, 50 HW defense on top of that...but that doesn't really matter if I'm laying flat on my back in a Dizzy/KD.


I thought the CU was supposed to keep us off our backs and provide longer, more enjoyable PvP.....

Am a MC/MBH/smuggler and can really dish out the dmg (the BH line is all general ranged nothing specific so makes all heavy weapons work really wellplus bh specials do some nice dmg) the Smuggler line grants the root (concussion shot) and Iwent up delinquency not dirty fighting so got restraining shot (snare). I find myself useing the proton carbine alot (which totally looses all bonuses from commando) hopefully with proton rifle working ill be able to use the commando defences and accuracy (with bh general ranged mods plus commando mods with heavy weapons I gain almost 60more defence and accuracy and about 20 more speed). Also medic is pretty much a worthless thing to get with STIM'D's healing 1200+dmg and any level 60+ can use em. (course someone will have to take medic inorderto make those stim'D but since it will be extremly lucrative field to take (profit wise since everyone can use stims and your not just selling to other medics I can see medicine crafters makeing huge cash once CU goes live)

I'm having the same problems with the Proton Rifle...I can't fire it from any position, whether I'm kneeling, standing, or prone...



And I've noticed the same thing- I'm Master Commando/Master BH, and the Proton Carbine is a great asset when an enemy tries to run out of range. I have Torso Shot as my auto-attack, and I was having a "blast" helping defending Anchorhead last night (April 18)...Then I stopped when the AT-ST's swarmed us (I didn't have any heavy weapons- shame on me, I know ) and picked up again when the ST's left...Anyway, I managed to kill about 20 folks while fighting there, maybe more- thanks to the AoE, I kept getting messages that I'd helped killed people when I'd really only been trying to kill one person..



I only actually managed to /deathblow three to five people, but I incapped the 20 I mentioned above.



At any rate, I found the Plasma Thrower to be an extremely effective weapon when coupled with Carbine specials. I'm not quite sure how people find it ineffective, boring, or less effective than live. Perhaps they're using ineffective templates, or don't know how to use Commando correctly.
