My current template is 3000 Commando (no work needed there
), 4424 Pistoleer, 0444 BH. It's still in the making. Also have medic 0020. Now, I've got a Launcher Pistol, but I suspect it converted from a pre-CU crafted one. Let me say it loud 'n clear, it SUCKS MAJOR ARSE!! I need something to grind with that's EFFECTIVE!
Do Light Lighning Cannons work from BH? I mean, they do provide Heavy Weapon xp, don't they?
In short, what should I be using to grind. Also, how should I do commando? I was thinking of doing Incindiary weapons, then Beam, then Acid.
Thanks for any help!

All of the novice commando weapons are bad and commando is only worth having if youre master. You could try a correlian destroyer as it might be a bit better than your launcher pistol

When I ground out commando, I used a Light Lightning Cannon from BH, but since the CU they are now classes as a rifle and they give only rifle XP. I'd go with the above post and try a Corellian Destroyer.
Also, I took up commando originally only because of the launcher pistol. Mines now been hanging on the wall of my house since the CU. You're right - it's virtually useless now. ![]()

grind up using the launcher to 0030 and then pull out the regular flame thrower until you can get 0430, at which point you can use the lightning beam cannon which has decent damage.

Hmm, thanks guys! But what exactly is the corellian destroyer?? I think I'll do the Incindiary weapons line for the flamethrower, and then do x4xx for the lightning beam cannon.

Thanks! I'll check the bazaar today!
I targeted a ronto too close to its lair, and hit the lair with the splash, and ALL the rontos, EXCEPT the one I'd targeted ran after me, so I used underhand shot, KD'd 3 or 4 of the aout 9 before the rest got me LOL.

I'm a believer that commando is so much fun, simply because we end up in situations like that
I'm not having fun in swg unless I'm an inch from death, so when i do get db'd, it's a sign that I was enjoying myself

The Correlian Destroyer is listed as a rifle in the bazaars. It hits for about 500 max dmg so imho better than a LP. You can also use a heavy beam cannon to grind with as it fires straight through a target so if there is no one behind your target, you shouldn't cause any agro.

Might be wiser to get xxx1 for the HAR, then grind up x4xx for the HPBC (CL30) then the LBC (CL50)
The rocket launcher (CL22 and in xx1x) is notorious to craft and you most likely won't find many, or will and have to pay a huge price for em due to the resource requirements/time to produce. The regular FT is only CL40, so it may save you some time just going for the LBC to grind the rest of the profession out till your Plasma FT at master.

OK, thanks again! I just bought a FT, and a CL 30 cannon of some sort that has no skill requirement. Yeah, rocketlaunchers are EXPENSIVE! Found many stocked, however, they were 100k apiece! OUCH!

Oh ya, did I mention this is the most fun I've had in this game? I'm loving just grinding
Can't wait to go on big hunts!

Actually, as master, I use the LBC more than the PFT. More Elemental damage, range, about the same DPS...

Not when you have a 1113 max damage/100 SAC PFT
Ever since I got my Proton Rifle, I rarely touch my LBC because I have better range and better damage. Remember, that 1148 max dmg cap is only for CL54 weapons. Lower CL, cap at lower damage.
I honestly haven't experimented, but it would be mighty difficult for a krayted LBC to really come up to my krayted PFT - my actual damage far outstrips any elemental unfortunately
Thats pretty much my strategy at staying alive, I switch up between my short range/AoE hvy pounder, and my lighter (yet still damaging) longer range single target weapon to do the damage I gain from carbine specials, manipulate my targets, and force them into a position I want them to be in for the kill.
Thats my role as a Commando-Carbineer with some Pistoleer, and aside from our own issues...the role works pretty dang good. Now, if we could only get grenades, AoE, and that damned damage in our profession...I might be more of a damage dealer than one who's damage lags behind my crowd control :/
