OK, this is starting to irritate me, so I figured I'd ask around and see what you all have had as your experience here - maybe some ideas?

I've got as much accuracy with the HAR as is possible within the skill tree - it just isn't going to go one point higher. Same with pretty much every Commando weapon. You get to the area around +100 and it stops there.

The problem is, I find it pretty much impossible to hit anyone with the optimaxed templates. +90 accuracy doesn't have much percentage against people with +180 ranged defense, you know? Add to that the fact that most of our weapons have a very narrow bubble of accuracy near the optimum range line, and you get sort of an alarming situation.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to actually hit my targets? From experimentation, /aim doesn't seem to work. And I have yet to see any skill tapes that will improve my accuracy. Any thoughts on this one?

Ya... commando does not have the best accuracy... My suggestion is to get speed weapons and not damage.... I find with my speed flamer if i miss i can shoot agian pretty fast.... and if they are on fire alrieghty dont burn them agian... The default will give them tons of lag =)

Using any heavy weapon against one of those lame defense stacking templates is just downright useless.

Using Heavy Support Weaponssuccessfully in PvP requires some intricate timing and the proper circumstances...

First, you cannot use Aim in conjunction with heavy weapons...

Second, you are forced to stop moving to use them and that can mean death at times...

Third, your accuracy with such weapons is dismal at best.

The only way to get the most out of them is to fire them on a stationary (non-moving) targetfrom the weapon's ideal range. If the target has high defensive skill, you're better off not even trying.

This is why they are called Heavy Support Weapons. They are not meant to be primary weapons.

a big problem with our accuracy most likely is that at ideal range we get around -40 to 50....not to mention i believe that ideal range is also..zero (totally forget if its zero or not ideal, havent played my commando on chilastra for a while!)

still on most if not all elite class weapons, the accuracy and the ideal range stats are a lil weird/messed up (takea look at a Fwg5...i got one which is +25 ideal and thats 20 something m, never owned a fwg5 that had less than +20!

Prob is we haven't figured out the devs does NOT want us to be major players in TRUE PVP if we were to be we be nerfed to hell and gone and our flamers would be as useful as a acid rifle is now....

We cannot compare ourselves to other aggresive classes you can't win if you have a flamethrower and a rifleman nails you from far away or a martial artist disarms you and breaks your neck for you can respond...

we are cumbersome and slow we are ment this way.... to change it is to nerf us to hell....

Push the issue at our own risk.

look what happened the FIRST time we was nerfed...

One more thing tho I would like to have my other weapons useful and would like that changed....

It seems to me we are ment to be king over the NPCs and not Players.... you want to be good at PvP? become a TKA or hopefully a BH... *maybe someday guys*

Aim does not work for heavy weapons? Did not know that. What about for RL, or HPBC. Does aim work for them??

i use nearly a stack of HPBC's each night i pvp... why? cuz its a nasty wakeup call to charging rebels. last night i shot 10 HPBC's at attacking rebs... 8 of them hit. mind you that is an expensive task, but i commonly pick up HPBCs off the bazaar consistently for 3k, so its about 100cr per shot, not bad in my opinion. one of the guys who constantly fell under my attacks was a rebel named Arge Freeley... Master Pistol/Master TK/ Master Smug. incapped him with 4 of the cannons alone and he wasn't sitting down or knocked down or prone or some lame stance thing. twice he was running straight for me, once away from me, and once running at a 90* angle from me.

so to answer yer question... yes, they work in PvP, but the cost is a little to rich for most peoples blood (im frugal with my monies) HPBC's are nasty long range weapons that easily incap from a distance (unless they got buffs) rocket launchers are by far my favorite to launch into rebel clusters (into bases is always a fun one, got 6 rebs incapped on one shot)

as for commandos being useless in PvP... you born under a rock or something? a buffed commando with full composite a handful of spice and some good food is probably the nastiest player out there... trust me, i know, i am one. sure bounty hunters are pretty ruthless, i mean they get eyeshot and such... but an 80% comp helm leaves the eyeshot damage no more dangerous than a pistoleer with stopping shot. the true best PvP player will be the master rifleman, hands down.

I am not a commando or weaponsmith, but this can help for regular ranged weapons - get a weaponsmith to build you a flamethrower that is experimented on accuracy rather than damage. Worth a try to see what increase you see in accuracy mods and what decrease you see in damage.

Thank you Cuality. One more question for you. When you use the HPBC, do you aim? Or does it matter?

Not just talking Heavy Support Weapons, Naraya.

Talking the HAR, especially. That thing I just can't land hits with at all...

Oooohhh I know, and I'll tell ya why (in case ya didn't know)....

If you open the profession / skills dialog in-game and look down through the mods, you will notice the following difference between the mods for Flamethrower Accuracy and Heavy Acid Rifle Accuracy.

Flamethrower Accuracy - 110

Heavy Acid Rifle Accuracy - 70
Heavy Acid Rifle Accuracy - 40

The speed mods are singular and working, the accuracy ones aren't. That is why you can't hit anything; most likely, the game isusing the 70 in the hit/miss roll. Obviously, there should be only one damned Heavy Acid Rifle Accuracy mod, not two. How hard could that be to fix? It can't possibly be as difficult as say fixing the unequippable imperial hat, can it?

Also, the accuracy mods on the Acid Rifles themselves suck bigtime. Maybe this is because demand for them is low and weaponsmiths don't bother wasting quality resources on guns they can't get very much for, but they could just really suck.

Also, the Aim command works with the Flamethrower, the Acid Rifle, and the Launcher Pistol. It doesn't work with any of the other heavy weapons or grenades.
