It seems since the patch you can now redeem faction points for combat xp. Just thought I'ld give a heads up since I find killing npc's to be more fun than mobs and I'm still trying to get my 40k combat xp to novice.

Or you can get C12 Grenades. 110% combat xp

If you're doing it ANY other way, it's going to take forever. It's not worthing giving up FP for combat XP (which I believe was available to you pre-patch)

I remember back in the good old days when no one had the 40K Combat Exp. that this was a great way to get the xp, but that's only if you could do the insanely hard missions. I also agree that all you need are some C12's and possible a nice pistol bleed to get full combat xp. Bleed then use the nades till they hit.

Yeah, c12's give great combat xp but **edit** 7k for a crate and only 15k combat xp? That's a bit expensive don't you think? Maybe I was just picking on too difficult npc's.

Well you can try hunting on Talus, goto the Imperial Outpost and take missions for Tortur's (huge looking turtles, if you haven't seen them before). But the meager torturs give about 514 HWxp and 51 combat xp, the larger ones give between 1800 to 3000 HW xp and 180-300 combat xp, and your going to get about 8-12 torturs per lair.

I've been doing this solofor the last couple of days, and I've made pretty close to 1 million in heavy weapons xp. But if you have flamesingle 2 then usually it only takes one or two shots and you have onecooked tortur. :-)And if you do mess up and get incapped, the Torturs don't db so thats a plus. So the xp is good the missions pay decent, and its a lot of fun.

i have a better way. get novice scout. get trapping 1 so you can make noisemakers (i think its trapping 1). hit a mob with the noisemaker, bleed it, run around until it dies. stack the bleeds if you can, re-apply the bleed when necessary. you get full combat xp for the kill. i did this with my alt toon to get BH. it was a bit easier for him since he was a master scout and could hit more for traps, but seriously, hitting midnight vir vurs and leviasqualls isn't that hard using traps. just kite em and watch that combat xp grow.

Personally I'm half way towards that combat exp and rather than using the tedious grenade bleed trick (which is clearly an exploit anyway) I've just found that the Snorbals on Lok are ideal for combat exp. If you have any trapping 3 skills you can use the snare trap on them to bring them to a near crawl. Since they're vulnerable to heat and you probably took pistoleer to benefit from the Launcher pistol right away then it makes them ideal prey. The mature females and males take a bit of a pounding but they're so slow when you use the snares that you can quite easily kill them. Even using warning shot works really well.

They give you around 340 combat exp so technically you only need to kill around 120 of them for that 40k of combat exp. So if you kill around 15 a day it'd only take you around a week to get that 40k of combat exp.

I think they'll be very handy for people who want to use the flamethrower for heavy weapon exp too (not that im there yet) but I'd say that by the time they've gotten from 64m to point blank you'd have almost kill them anyway, so if you use a snare they'll be BBQ long before you even find them hitting the 20m marker.

Definitely use grenades (the best you can use) to get that combat xp growing. I like to get some missions and usethem on the lairs. High-level mob lairs can give upwards of 3k combat xp per lair.

No one said you had to exploit and make it bleed. Just throw your grenades and you'll get good Combat XP. I throw my beetle at something, lob C12's and can get 1k per 2-3 throws. On lairs, I've gotten over 3k combat xp before.

Read this post a couple days back and decided to get that crate of C22's i had in the basement (never knew they gave straight combat XP). Used them while hunting on Dantooine. Somehow we ended up with three missions right next to each other, all pickets. We had a group of about 8 people and probably5 pets. That was the most fun i've hunting ever! Now, i've been to all planets and hunted most things, even Krayts. But this topped it all. I took like 30 minutes and we must have killed like 50 pickets. Point is, in 30 min i went through a whole factory crate of 20 C22's of 5 charges each, and collected a cool 35k of combat xp.

Its not really an 'exploit', it just kind of works oddly... if you hit a creature with a Bleed and never hit it with anything else, it will die and no XP will be given for any skill. You wont be able to harvest, as the game thinks the creature just bled to death.

You can do a bleed, shoot it with a Carbine, and get Carbine xp that way, bleeds actually work with any weapon. Bleeds can be foiled easily tho, if someone else outdamages you even if you've bled it to death, they get a majority of the xp. So there are ways around it, and its not foil-proof.
