Thread: Poison through Full Composite Armor????

So I have a full set of composite armor, anyone who wears this knows that it is very costly (secondary stats) to wear but very effective, for the most part. What I hate is that a master medic can throw apoison at me and incap me in two shakes of a grual maulers tail? Whatever that means... One (myself) would think that would think that this armor would lessen the effectiveness of a poison. Even though he is on fire and running around like a dwarf nuna.

It should lessen the chance of becoming poisoned yes but not the effects of it. Besides you ought to be lucky you can wear armour

Ummmm.... Posions do not set you on fire. Flamethrowers do that.

I'm not sure what you have a problem with.

If you are affected (or infected I suppose) by a posion it is in your system and wearing armor won't help that.

If you're talkin about the Flame DOT then you get the damage due to the fact that armor resist do not apply to ANY DOT effects. Armor does resist the initial damage.

So if the heaviest armor in the game isn't a fully contained armor, which it kinda looks like it is, what else do that tubes on the mask do and those little ports by the mouth??? These needs to be a way to prevent chemical warfare, ie Haz-mat suits. Especially an area effect chemical.

Well, nobody knows how the posions are distributed. If the helmet has an in built gas mask, that would help with airborn distributed posions. But suppose it's absorbed through the skin. I don't know.

Just becaue it looks likeit's entirely sealed doesn't neccisarily mean it is. Perhaps there are seams between the pieces. Perhaps it's material can still allow small molecules through it's pores. Perhaps it was never designed for chemical warfare. I don't know what to tell you.

Composite can not resist posions since they do not carry any initial damage (it's all a DOT). I don't think Composite should completly block a DOT effect. Even if it is a powerful one.

Tey posting (in an appropriate forum) that you feel composite should block posions. Or perhaps they could make a New Armor that specializes in the prevention of chemical weapons but it's not as effective against other types of damage.

I deffinatly think a special armor to combat chemical weapons would be cool.

well first of all you hafted to be a combat medic, not a master medic, and poisons are our only weopon, so having composite armor resist it would make everyone prety much imune to it

Even if the helmet of the composite armor had a built in gas filtering device, you would still be susceptible to chem/bio attacks. Due to the fact that the suit is made up of several different pieces there will be gaps in coverage. While these gaps may be able to stop a variety of attacks, gases and liquids will still be able to penetrate. The deadliest chem/bio weapons currently available in the REAL world do not use the resperatory <sp> system to affect you, rather they are absorbed through the skin. I know that we should not draw a direct comparison between real and VR, but work with me here.

The only way that there's ever going to be a counter to CM poisons will be if they allow the creation of dedicated chem/bio armor. Before the CM's come across this and flame me let me say that if they do allow this type of armor, the encumberance will make it unwearable for long periods of tim, or should do so. Modern RL chem/bio defence gear is HORRIBLE to wear for ANY length of time <trust me, I've worn the stuff> and SHOULD be reflected as such in the game with accuracy, movement and encum penalties.

And lest we forget, "the heaviest armor in the game" is "light" armor.

In any event, Combat Medics need to be viable too. If they made composite 100% heat resistant, we'd be pissed and we have other wespons we can use...the Combat Medics do not.

Well if he wonders why posion can be applied to someone in full composite, then I'd have to say it's just armor and not a hermetically sealed suit. That's why chemical weapons are so dangerous they don't cause initial damage they are absorbed by the skin, through the air, or some other means. If the composite armor was a Haz-mat suit then sure it would prevent it all together. But it's not.

And even with a HazMat suit if you were intending to poison someone geared for protection you would just deliver the poison in adart or something.
