Thread: My vision of where Commando is heading

Since the CU docs are under wraps, and with no end in the NDA in sight, I thought I would take a stab at it in my own way..

Right now, things are way out of control...Some resemblance of control was put into place when caps of 125 were enacted. Even still, some profs have insanely high accuracy and speed mods, too high of defenses...This results in the FOTM's, or more aptly, FOTY since its nearly been that long since ANY change has been made to combat.

Let me preface this by first telling you: Forget everything you know about damage multipliers. Forget everything you know about ‘defensive stacking’. Forget all you know about accuracy and speed modifiers. Forget everything you know, because its all about to change.

Temporarily, anyway....

As such, the number 100 will be your new best friend.

Lets look at pre-CU Commando...No opinions are needed, only the facts:
Master Commando – 169 skill points for master, 600 apprentice xp.

Ranged defense : 47 Melee defense : 34*
Defense vs Dizzy : 0 Defense vs Knockdown : 5
Defense vs Blind : 0 Defense vs Stun : 0
Defense vs Intimidation : 0 Ranged Mitigation : 3
Melee Mitigation : 0* Block : 0**
Counterattack : 0** Dodge : 0**


Flamethrower Speed : 45 Flamethrower Accuracy : 80
HAR Speed : 45 HAR Accuracy : 80
HAB Speed : 30 HAB Accuracy : 30
HPB Speed : 50 HPB Accuracy : 40
HLB Speed : 30 HLB Accuracy : 30
Thrown Weap Speed : 40 Thrown Weap Accuracy : 55
Rifle Speed : 30 Rifle Accuracy : 60
Pistol Speed : 30 Pistol Accuracy : 60
Carbine Speed : 30 Carbine Accuracy : 60
Unarmed Speed : 25 Unarmed Accuracy : 50

*Despite the fact that all the specials that are Commando specific are only used within melee range, also since Commando is classified as a ranged profession, melee opponents are afforded an attack bonus to hit
**Every elite combat profession except Commando and Bounty Hunter have class specific defensive specials / counters that can be partnered with, and enhanced, by a melee class.

The new improved post-CU Commando
Master Commando – 169 skill points for Master, 600 apprentice xp
Defenses:
Ranged defense : 60 Melee defense : 30
State Defense : 40
Ranged Toughness : 55 Melee toughness : 30
Defensive Accuity : 30 Block : 25
Counterattack : 25 Dodge : 25
General Ranged Accuracy bonus : 15 General Ranged Speed bonus : 10
General Melee Accuracy bonus : 15 General Melee Accuracy bonus : 10
Heavy Weapons Accuracy : 75 Heavy Weapons Speed : 75


State Defense: Includes defense vs dizzy, blind, stun, intimidate, etc. As a Commando is a mixture of professions that have these defenses inherent, it would make sense that a Commando would get the defenses available from those trees, although not overwhelmingly so.
Ranged / Melee toughness: Replaces mitigation ((100-60)/100) for ranged, ((100-30)/100) for melee baseline for Master.
Defensive acuity: A modifier that is multiplicative to a standard special defense move (i.e. dodge, counterattack, etc)
Block, Counterattack, Dodge: These defenses apply to the Commando, as they are available from the three applicable profession trees under Master Marksman.
General Ranged Accuracy / Speed bonus: Applicable to other ranged professions, stacking on existing profession specific modifiers
General Melee Accuracy / Speed bonus: Applicable to other melee professions, stacking on existing profession specific modifiers
Heavy Weapons Accuracy / Speed: Including the flamer, HAR, HPBC, etc

Weapons Certs: All existing Commando weapons. Launcher pistol is removed from the Commando, and placed into the Novice Pistoleer Tree.

Now, I can already feel you guys freaking out, because the number seems so low. Understandable...Read on

As of now, all accuracy and speed modifiers are completely out of whack with each other, and other professions. Remember the number 100? The one I said would be your new best friend?

Look at Jedi. The magic number is 100. It’s going to be the new ceiling for ALL profession. There is no 165 accuracy for riflemen. There is no 245 unarmed accuracy to TKM. Everything is based on nice even percentages, nice easy multipliers. What the absolute cap is, I don’t know. I would imagine its probably going to be 125, which you could reach via CA’s, AA’s, food, etc.

It would only seem...Fitting, that Commando is allowed the benefits of both types of combat types, but not, as I stated earlier, overwhelmingly so. That is where Garvin’s 250 pt Commando mantra comes in. If you Master Commando, and take a Master in another prof, that will truly maximize the potential of the Commando, and the other prof, such as Pistoleer, TKM, Carbineer…




Well, that’s about as far as I have gotten into it, but have ideas that I am working..Will update later!

Very true as well...not so much specific stuff...but just leave behind the entire system. As one of the correspondants said, leave it behind and only use it as a reference point. Or something like that...you all will be surprised...and very pleased...

I am in Panama City...In the freaking winter. No beach betties....Nothing. Outside my hotel I am looking at a freaking 700 foot cargo ship dumping what amounts to DIRT from the Bahamas onto cement.

oh yah, i actually agree with the stat discussion, sort of. the problem is, some professions need bonuses like that. TKM, for example: your strikes dont do alot of damage over all, especially without a VK. a 100% hit ratio helps alot, especially when ive seen pistols that fire faster than a TK can punch.

Right now, No pistol can fire faster than a TKM can punch (TKM has 105 unarmed speed you hit at 1 sec cap with 100 speed)

Add the melee speed tree to that and it gets even faster....Sorry grinding to jedi....TKA......

i was thinking along the lines of damage over time. but i do spend alot of time as a tkm getting my ars kicked by pistoleers.
