commandos were supposed to be able to craft things to make special explosives for grenades and mines, can we still do this and if so what skill gives us this

This was all removed because of what beta testers thought i belive. Even though the last things were removed in the last big patch.

well if they removed it, how can you get thermal detonaitors and imperial grenades and plasma grenades, who can make these now??

I know that they will hit you if you are in the blast radius, but do they hit everyone, including allies and group memebers?

How would they damage your allies, its like an area blast is it not? Wouldn't that effectively mean that your group members would have to be either 1) in duel or 2) have a tef
to actually receive damage from any area blast you can offer?

They damage only people you would be able to attack, no groupmembers, neutral people, etc. will get hurt. Only exception is yourself.

Aregrenades useful at all? A guild member of mine is mastering commando and I would like to know if gernades have any value at all. I have several loots of Acklay Venom that I could use to help him if it's worth it. Is the bug bomb worth getting?
I looked at several of the sticky posts but most of the weapon discussion was the flamethrower.

Grenades are useful (accurate) at level 4 tactics or master commando. If made by a decent weaponsmith they are very powerful in pve and can be used with decent success in pvp as well (I've used them to good effect in pvp in large battles.. not good for 1 v 1 though). Finding a weaponsmith that makes them at decent stock and fair prices is rare though - most are junk one's looted off corpses that I've seen

Not to mention that they can become costly fairly quickly. When I actually could find them (proton grenades... I never did find anything other than those, glop grenades and C12's being sold) they cost me roughly 20k per stack of 5.

grenades can be usefull under a few conditions:
1. you're fully doc buffed and mind buffed and/or brandied, with good comp armour
2. in PvP if you have a few others fighting with you, a tank is most definately needed here
3. in PvE if you're a) fighting ranged enimies, b) fighting melee enemies and have a tank to help you or c) if you can somehow keep a melee enemy within ideal range solo
4. you have a weaponsmith friend to make you grenades for cheap
5. you have at least field tactics 4
if you can meet all these conditions grenades can be somewhat usefull, although in most cases the FT is far superior... only if you meet all these conditions and you're fighting a jedi with uber saber block can grenades be better than the FT...
