Yea, definently my idea of a commando is an assault trooper. and carbines are definently an assault weapon

The NGE is a decent start. Now lets bring the rest of the worlds up to par with Tatooine and Mustafar

Well just imagine charge shot 2 hitting a group of ppl (dizzy/kd), follow fullauto area (more dizzy/stun/blind). Ok so now you have a group of peeps flip flopping around run up to em switch to flame area..... i shudder to think.

Well as I sit back and dream of the CURB, I have to wonder, is it going to be the salvation of the game as we are promised?
If so did they fix commando? Will we finally be able to use Carbines (read: machine guns) like we are supposed to?

If not I was thinking of going MComm and MCarbineer simply because A Commando is a machine gunner and demolitions expert, havent seen many flame throwers on commandos, BobaFett had one but he was a BH.

Opinions?

I used a template builder to check this out. So far the only thing I see wrong with it is the total lack of defenses. But on the flip side, you will be one hell of an offenseive player. LOl, um anyone done this yet. I am thinkin I may try, since TKM, my current secondary proff, is the easisest grind in the world. And if it sucks I can get back easily enough

where can I find the template builder? At this point I'm mster carbineer, novice comando, are there even enough points to do this? Just curious, I'd check it out myself if I knew where the template builder was.

well good I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes this idea. Hopefully CU will be changing the Commando prof in a good way, but I feel I am definetly going to have to go up Carbines, I'm just sad that I can't hold onto my BH skills too, oh well.

Yes...Post CU Commandos will be able to Master 2 Professions (Commando as one of the 2)...We won't be able to Master every profession though...I believe we still run out of points trying to get Ranger, but before we couldn't even get Novice Ranger with Master Commando. Master Command / Master Carnineer will be possible.

If you add up the Offense, Defense, Crowd Control numbers from the CU doc a MComm/MCarb would be:

Offense: 9
Defense: 4
Crowd Control: 5

What will be interesting is to see what they mean by:

Adding additional ranged profession skills to a Commando creates a very potent damage specialist because instead of having a few special abilities for a specific set of weapons, they can now stack their profession with other professions to gain a wide variety of special abilities.

Does that mean you can use the specials for one profession while using weapons from another one with possible limited use? Or does that simply mean I can pull out my carbine, use a CC special then have to switch back to my FT to do damage? Isn't that how it's done today already?

Anyway, if you simply add up the numbers a MComm/MRifle would be:

O: 10
D: 4
CC: 4

MComm/MBH:

O: 9
D: 7
CC: 2

MComm/Pistol:

O: 7
D: 6
CC: 5

MComm/Smuggler:

O: 8
D: 4
CC: 6

MComm/Squad Leader:

O: 8
D: 6
CC: 4

All those numbers may not mean much on the surface until more light is shed on how specials between classes interact, if they do.

Ah, Garvin answered my specials question in another thread.

To quote him:

Basically what I've been trying to specifically hint at is that Commandos will be able to use other professions abilities with our weaponry (although some specials or weapons could be restricted), which means a Commando can become a Rifleman Commando...or a Pistoleer Commando...or a Smuggler Commando...etc...We remain Commandos by using our weapons but gain the abilities/enhancements of other professions by dabbling them...If we want to be a Commando who can do heavy damage as a sniper, then we'll dabble Rifleman for example.

This is what I meant all along about becoming a 250 pt Commando...Everything we dabble for only makes us a BETTER Commando...This also means that, the abilities we get from our Marksman tree WILL be usuable with our Commando weapons (likely still just the non-consumable ones, but don't know for sure)...This is also why I've hinted that we might still want to Master Marksman depending on how well the Marksman specials work with our Commando weapons.
