Thread: Ranged Profession DPS Comparison [Updated 2]

Ok I wanted to see how Commando compared to other ranged professions for DPS. So I took the hardest hitting specials from Pistoleer, Carbineer, and Rifleman and compared them with ours. We are completely outmatched right now. It is interesting to note that EVERY ranged profession outdamages us in PvP and PvE. The only way for us to compete in PvE is to get 75 speed and that only applys against AR0 targets. If we even run into an AP1 target we are back to being the lowest DPS ranged class.
Carbineer Special - Cripple Shot
Pistoleer Special - Stopping Shot
Rifleman Special - Strafe Shot 2
All damage calculations were done adding in the 1.5 default modifier.

Wow, interesting information.
I'm surprised to see the DXR-6B rifle outdamaging the T21. I take that this is before AP is taken into consideration?
With this information, I can see having our speeds increased being helpful, but knowing about AP, our FT and HAR should have at the minum AP1.

Yup, just as i thought. I have the sucky combatprofessions (pistoleer/commando).
Master Pistoleer doesn't even hit 200dps at all, and riflemen only have one below 200dps. Hmmmm......Remind me again why riflemen can have the same speed as a pistoleer?

Reminder: SOE game developers have never seen or fired a rifle. They have only read of them in books and seen them on TV.

I'm working on something similar which incorporates three specials per profession, Master and Capped speeds, sliced and unsliced weapons (3 per professions), and adjustments for AP 0/1/2/3/PVP/PVP Comp.
Here's the top. I've done about 12x as much as that so far.

Then divide that by the # of SP needed to have the special...
This is good information to get to Devs to give us more speed and atleast AP1.
Should be calculated as DPS per combat SP spent.
So, Flamecone2 has the most SP spent for it's attack, therefore it should be the strongest.

Ouch, just noticed the new column for vs AR1.
We can outdamage outselfs with Mastermarksman skills.

That is wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. AP1 or above -does- do additional damage vs AR0, however all shots vs Vulnerable count as AP0 vs AR0. Trust me, there's no possible other way for me to get 10k hits with my T21.
Edit: They may have broken this in the past publish however, I've only been PVPing so I haven't noticed. I did just shoot a butterfly with AR0/10% Energy and did 90% of the damage according to Combat Spam.

In case anyone is interested...I've been trying to collect together various in-game formulas...StGabriel kindly provided me with the following...
Speed Formula :: delay = min(1, special_mult * weapon_delay * (100 - speed) / 100))
AP Formula ::
IF AP >= AR THEN ap_factor = 1.5^(AP-AR)
ELSE ap_factor = .5^(AR-AP)
Resist Formula :: resist_factor = (100-resist)/100
Damage Formula :: total_damage = ap_factor * resist_factor * weapon_damage
Accuracy Formula :: to_hit = 66% + (accuracy - defense) / 2 + situational_modifiers
DPS Formula :: DPS = total_damage * to_hit / delay
AP Formula ::

Another Correspondent also expressed some concern that the above calculations may be misleading since they focus on the Max damage of each weapon and not the Average damage...Some weapons have a greater range between their min and max damage levels and suggested we focus on the average of the min and max instead of just the max...I thought I would just pass on what he said...I think what you've done here is GREAT!!! thanks for all the hard work!!!
