Thread: The Template roles commandos might have after the CU.

Was looking through the GCW forum and i saw a post about how rebels should be, and someone said about being strategic and everything, slicing bases and hacking into terminals, and I got an idea of what kind of role a certain template will play, and i thought of the commando templates we can have. And after playing Republic Commando demo, i got this idea to.

Commando/Smuggler - The man who gets down and dirty in combat. You need access to places you don't want to hear about, hes your man to have in your commando team. Hes the slicer/hacker of the team, one of the brains and the fastest talker of the group, need a security door opened, get him to slice the terminal or door open. He can hit hard with his commando skills, and be dirty with his smuggler skills. This guy is the hacker and info guy of the group.

Commando/TKM - The real tank of the group, barely gets hurt, and keeps wanting more. Can hit from far, and can hit from close, this man is not a guy easily taken down, and if you need a tough opponent eliminated, hes your guy to call. Uses quick and hard melee moves from his tkm, and can easily hit hard from far with his commando. An ideal man to send into a room full of enemies. This guy is the tank of the group.

Commando/Rifleman - The sniper of the group. Can shoot a nuna in the toe from 1000m, and take out a group of enemies before they know what happend. The support shooter from the behind, hes the guy you need to take out the front line defense of any base or enemy force. Has access to all the hard hitting commando weapons, and the long ranged rifle weapons, this guy is the long ranged killer.. The sniper of the group

Commando/Carbineer - Need someone to lay down some cover fire and to take out a massive group of enemies fast, hes what you need. Good at medium range, this is the guy who can get any machine gun and easily take out 10 stormtroopers with no problem. Big weapons with commando, and true use of area attacks of a carbineer. The rambo of the group.

Commando/Pistoleer - The gunslinger of the group. In a small cooridor and want to take out your enemies while causing little or no damage to the surrounding? Hes your guy. Can accuratly shoot a group of enemies or enemy in the quickest and quietest way possible. This man dodges bullets, and sometimes eats them for breakfest to. One of the first line attackers, this guy can easily take out small groups of enemies as fast as possible. The duelist of the group.

Commando/BH - A real killer. Has the real knowledge of all the weapons, and then some, and can kill you 50 times over before you hit the ground. Need someone stalked for an assasination raid, hes your man to track your enemy down. This guy is the assassin of the group.

Commando/SL - The man with the plan. Group is in trouble, no problem, because this guy can give the right orders and take names. The guy who is in contact with the control center, all your command deciscions come from him, and he figures out the best way to finish the job. This guy is the Leader of the group.

***New ones***

Commando/Medic - The medic of the group. Have a cut wound from a stormtroopers knife? Give the medic a call and hell patch it up asap. The real backbone of the group, he keeps everybody alive. One of the healers in the group.

Commando/Combat Medic - The biological terrorist of the group. Hes the best man to terrorize a group of enemies before you go in and eliminate. But also has the power to heal everybody with a cleaning spray of an area stim. The support healer.

Commando/Doctor - The real healer of the group. Have a disease? This doc can heal it up real nice. He also gives the squad injections that makes them more powerful. The real healer of the group.



This is all fiction from my mind, basically thinking what kind of commando group I would have if i could form a commando squad for fast and heavy hitting assault team. Would work out in my mind as 1 commando/sl, 1 commando/bh, 1 commando/smuggler, 2 commando/rifleman, 2 commando/carbineer/2 commando pistoleer/3 commando tkm 1 commando/medic 1 commando/combat medic 1 commando/doctor.

Ideas? Comments? All are welcome here, just something i wanted to share wiht the commando forum.

Cool ideas...


I had been dead set on Commando/Pistoleer up until recently.I have a few DE-10s to die for, and a few REALLY nice CA's/AA's to augment it with. I had even thought Commando/Rifleman would be a good choice, considering my collection of T21s, Jawas, DXR6-b's, etc...Thats not including my CA/AA's...


But Commando/Carbineer is really starting to look intriguing, the more I troll the Carbineer forums...


I am not a solo PvPer...I dont duel in front of starports. I prefer the war, instead of individual battles. Give me 50 Imperials to fight alongside with, and 100 rebels to fight against, and I am a happy man.

Right now, with advanced strafe and the speed cap, MC/MR feels more like what I was hoping for with a machine gunner type. Hopefully after the CU, carbs will get more speed. I have done MCarbineer with MCommando and the carbs were just to slow for me, but the AoE attacks were fun. At that time I did not have the credits to afford CA/AA's to bump my speed. I messed around and dropped some of commando for Master Carb +BH Carbs IV... and wow... talk about a change. I then remastered commando and took rifleman, it was destructive and fun, but I always seemed to lean on rifles more.


Last night while goofing around with templates (after listening to a couple comments from some other commandoes), I did some switching to MC with BH carbs IV, and Carbineer 2/0/0/4. Had a blast doing it too (literally)... saw a pack of ST's (thank goodness none of the nova types)... hit fullautoarea2 stuck dizzies on most in the first 2 seconds, hit chargeshot2 and I would guess 3/4 of them got knocked down. While they were flopping, fired off a rocket for a big boom and proceeded to charge in with flamecone2. Insta-FP and felt like a commando for the first time in months doing it. I am really gonna tinker with some carbine ideas to see what other templates I can make with it, but for now I love the way that one trial went. May consider mastering carbineer again since I can afford the tapes to get the speed up now.


I like the list the author of the post has, really fun ideas and hope that the combos can be used in some similar faction after the CU. (I would be more tempted to go the Smuggler combo if there is any kind of pistol speed mods that come with smuggler or commando). Fun thread to read... 5*'s

I've not had a chance to test how well they "mesh", but Commando/Rifle and Commando/BH look like good combos.

Seriously;


Unles there is something tht is very worthwhile (like giving me additional skill points to spend) I am not changing from my

Master Commando/master Smuggler with all the remaining SP used up in FS boxes.





Isn't the rifleman taking an awful chance?

Shooting a nuna in the toe is extreamly dangerous!




I like the the idea of assistants. I havea Commando/Smuggler template and I'll try to gather as much info on that as I can.

I've got a pretty good survival template, though not the best for all combat.

Master Commando, Scout 4,0,0,2, Medic 3,4,3,0.

Yea it's nutz but hey I lived using only commando weapons against a lot of things that would normally kill ya.

My plan is to become force sensitive a bit by either dropping my medic speed skill or my one of my camp skills for that tincy extra power.

I always wonder what it would be like after the CU.

Not sure what ya would call me...

other that hitting an area about 1 cm wide from 1000m away, (you can hardy see that far, line of sight. and you'd better hope that nuna's not moving) good stuff.
Rifles are too powerfull now as it is (speaking as one with a Master Rifleman alt) and are in for some nerfing post-CURB.

Its not so much that they are overpowered, in as much as they are one of the few profs that actually work. Rifleman doesnt have ONE broken special.


Had they left mind stims in the game from beta, you wouldnt worry so much about them

Startle shot works, but is worthlless, becuase flushing shot does same thing, plus stuns. going back to original post, alot of these templates will be very popular. Simply because commando has the potential to complement so much.

Hmm, Commando/Rifleman sounds like a good combo, hit em from far, if the get within 16 m, they will feel the wrath of the flamer.


It would be interesting to see a guild comprised entirely of commando/x profession, then go out and pvp and see how they do.
