Thread: An Interesting Idea with Armor
Dunno if its synergy or something, but I was just thinking the same thing in-game - I think it'd work for several reasons:
It could be class-defining, as cheaper perks and slicing are to Smugglers etc etc..
Commando isn't the easiest class to get into, so as long as its spread over a whole tree, like a skill, perhaps not even any at Novice, then it'd be great, perhaps a 20-40% reduction at the master level, split evenly over the two - both special attack reductions and regen rates.
Not like it'd happen - but I agree that as the only true 'soldier' class - the others are specialists in a specific weapon - that something to do with armour makes sense for commandos.
Poor commando wookies - wait they still have the most stat points in the game and can boost their regens nice and high..
Regen doesn't help much in battle, just shortens downtime. IMO, they didn't give wookiee's enough pool points to compensate for not being able to wear armor. Maybe we need a natural armor rating of one or something.

Yeah, wookies get the shaft on armor...but that applies outside Commando and to the whole game. However, wookies do get other weapons like the bowcaster which others can't use, so its just how the game unfortunately works. Maybe the perk on effectiveness can apply to deflectors (but that makes almost no sense as its a shield) since I believe wookies can wear one of those.
Just the con of the race:/

I like it! 'Specially since we don't have any defensive bonsus
would be nice even if we do get them, hehe.

Hey, why most likely this idea may be considered unbalancing by some, I was just thinking as a master of warfare, maybe it would be a cool perk of the commando class to wear armor more efficently. Maybe add a new modifier that lowers the encumberance of the armor naturally, or even increase its overall defensive effectiveness (slightly) at higher levels. I mean, it sorta makes sense, as we are supposed to be the heavy soldiers with heavy weapons, why not be better at using armor since it fits the best with our role? Any thoughts on this?
On a side note, I would rather have everything fixed before they added new perks to our class.

To further my post...
Maybe we (as commandos) could just have some defensive mods. I kinda like the arnold swartzenegger commando idea. We can dodge bullets! And even say cheesy line lol ![]()
BUT we also must realize that the commando (at least in game right now) is all about offensive power. We blow stuff up!
But dodging bullet would rock. And we already have unarmed toughness due to unarmed master requirements so that covers that aspect. Throw the dodge ability in the field tactics tree.
