Thread: pistol xp on Launcher Pistols?

Sorry if this was on here before...

I'm 1/4 done on getting my first level box in the commando tree and I've been using a launcher pistol for my heavy weapons xp. Since I was using a used LP, it was down to nothing so I bought a new one. Now I'm getting pistol xp. I purchased another one on a different planet and I'm still getting pistol xp. Since I can't use any other weapon because they miss so often (FT, Acid, etc.), can anyone tell me what's up with the LP?

And if the DEV's changed it, what to use to get heavy weapon xp?

Thanks!

Was the one you purchased player made or loot from a quest? The quest looted ones are bugged and grant pistol exp. If it was player made, new bug!

The flamethrower is the only weapon you should be using, very very accurate and powerful, get a speed slice.

Please. That's BS. and if you weren't a Riflemen/Doctor, you would know this.

Until you get at least one special with flamethrower it's pretty much useless. So using the launcher pistol is the way to go as you can use bleeds and specials with it.

As to why it's giving you pistol exp, this was an old bug...I hope it hasn't reverted. It should be giving HW exp. Try sending a ticket. Hopefully you get an answer.

I had the same issue last week.

It sounds like you got one of the LPs from the Rebel Theme Park, you probably bought it off the Bazaar.

If so, these pistols are bugged (and have really low stats). I suggest saving up some bucks, if need be, and go directly to a weaponsmith and get a newly crafted one.

Enjoy

You must have bought one of the old bugged pistols. I used my launcher earlier and got heavy weapons experience from it.

Well, considering I am a Master Commando... gee, I wonder, kid? Not only do I only use a FT, but I easily hit for 10k + with it, savvy? Combine a LP + Gunfighter skills and you got crappy damage compared to a FT. The Acid Rifle?? Useless. Nades? I'll pass. Heavy weapons? No thanks, I'd rather deal more dmg, quicker, + put everyone on fire.... Get it, unwise one? It's pretty simple... use that thing called a umm... uhh a brain! Let this be a lesson, I was flamed for giving advice and now the flamer has been flamed by another flame, which outsmarts his flame, because my flame is hotter, savvy? I wonder.... flame + flame =bigger flame +more flames = senseless, mindless, children + more flames = a boat. Understand now?????

Launcher is the way to go at early levels. About flame3 you will start to see animproved hit ratio. Use of aim and other stances willimprove yourhit ratio also. If you rely on your heavy weapons at early levels you are going to miss alot.

No I didnt understand that whole adding thing. But I'll try not to flame more, as it didnt look good. The original poster is NOT a master, infact he is just a novice, no boxes yet. So him using the flamethrower will NOT yield higher damage as he will miss very often (not to mention he has no specials). I am a Master too, and share your opinions on our other weapons, but at novice there really isnt a viable option other than the LP with bleeds and such.

Um, so yes, you are correct when applying to Masters, and even those halfway up the FT tree, but not to the originator of this thread.

Nope, sorry, you never use anything but the FT unless your enemy has high heat resistance, or you're basically damning yourself to hell. Now with no specials and a FT, lay down and you'll shoot so much faster.. and you should be hitting for over 1k dmg (more or less). Also, even when you're master, you should have a nice pet... maybe a grand wrix, or something better.. a dewback... something that wont take the xp and will be a good meat

(edit button, please)

Something that wont take the xp and will be a good meat shield. When you're hunting big game, like krayts, you'll want a grauler or something.

Pets. This game always comes down to having pets. This game should be named "Star Wars Creature Handling".

You can survive without pets. It's helpful to get a droid for the grouping bonus...and without a "meat shield," you will need to use weapons other than the Flamer when facing tough opponents (and since the last big patch, "tough" means anything tougher than a lone kreetle)...and admittedly it's not as easy, but it can be done.

I would use my LP rather than Flamer until you get flame single 1. I personally used an LP and lots of Health Shot 1s and Overcharge Shot 2s (because who cares whether you damage an LP, so long as you hit hard?).

Having a pet is a definite help...but so is having feign death...so is having double tap, so is having all the defensive mods of a TKA Master. Assuming you want advice a Commando could use though, go with HS1 followed by OC2.

Got a weaponsmith to craft one for me and I'm getting HW xp now.

Thanks!
