Pilots go on Strike!

http://home.comcast.net/~belaya/strike.htm

Everyone is invited to this event. The reason it’s a pilot strike and not a pistoleer, bounty hunter, pikeman, WHATEVER strike is obvious. The fact that PILOTS refuse to fly means we DO NOT want Jump to Lightspeed before the combat balance is done! The combat balance was promised to us months ago. It’s time our voices be heard! This includes everybody! Whatever profession you are, if you play Star Wars Galaxies, log on to Sunrunner and join us in Theed for the largest symbol of dissatisfaction the developers have ever witnessed!

Background: A similar strike took place on another server. It involved the lack of armor for wookies. Even characters from other servers created wookies on one server for the event. It was a success, and the developers were forced to acknowledge the problem and fix it. Striking is the best way to send the developers a message. We don’t care about JTL, fix the game that we play right now! If you hammer out a hole in a wall, do you cover it up with wallpaper? No! You FIX IT! SOE should give us what they promised!

If it gets laggy to the point where you can’t move, so be it! As long as your character is present. Personally I’ll be stomping, flailing, chanting slogans of dissatisfaction, but as long as you’re present it is fine. Whether you want to go grab a beer, watch some TV, or do whatever, leave your character online in Theed at the strike. We have strength in numbers! It is enough to send a message.

Not sure if a "pilot" strike will work since most people who buy JTL will want to use what they purchase and grind as fast as they can...

On the other hand, I think the Devs might get a clear message on peoples opinions when the sales numbers of JTL are reviewed...If it sells well they'll feel people are happy...if it sells poorly, they'll get a clear message that people are not willing to invest more money into a game that they aren't confident fixes will ever come...

I'm not suggestingany particular action or supporting it, but each person has a right to demonstrate their opinion...and I've always felt my wallet is a good way to show just that...

Hopefully we'll get to hear the sales figures of JTL...this will give us a clear representation of current game opinion in my book...

Remember also that there are a lot of "fixes" that are suppose to be going into the game prior to and with Publish 10...probably some afterwards as well...many of these fixes were probably originally suppose to come with the Combat Balance when it was slated to go live with Publish 11...so we are getting them A PATCH early at least...so this "strike" may be for naught at this point since if you do it, and the devs go with the plans they already have even before the strike, both sides could end up saying "See We/The Listened" when it was all things that were going to happen anyway...

Got bad news for you on that one Garvin. From all the accounts that got canceled they dont care. And for all those that stay will more then likly buy the game for only the fact that I hope JTLS Redeems this game for me. Or for the peopel that have been sticking around just for this.

you know im mad at this stupid CR stuff and commando needless to say im buying JTLS. If for any reason to have a reason to play.Plus I love flying games.

Its sad but true. People like new things. People want to blow things up in space. The majority of the populace will buy JTL. Do I think it is right for them to put JTL before the combat revamp?... no. I think they should have done it first hands down. We are paying for a game thatis supposedly going to be fixed in the future. Now here is the kicker and I will be completely truthful. Will I buy JTL when it comes out? Probably. I am just as eager as most people to try out space combat. Unfortunately that is the nature of people. I dont agree with putting a fresh coat of paint on a wall that is already rotting and should be replaced. However, I am a sucker for the A-Wing. And that is my honest answer...

I hate to break this to you, but this game is not broken... Sure there are bugs, but the game works.. i log in daily and do a variety of things, it may not work how you want it too... combat may be unbalanced and many other things may be true, but the game works...you can log in and burn a few mokks or pikets or ewoks, maybe craft some weapons or whatever your personal flavour of play is... you may not always win, commandos may be less efficient than other professions, but the game works.

Doesn't mean there is nothing wrong, and you have to right to ask for things to be 'changed' and for bugs to be fixed, but you are paying to play the game as it currently stands and the game works as it currently stands.

I will turn the table on you with an analogy since there are many definitions of "broken". Say you have a car that is in bad shape. This car leaks gas and oil but barely manages to get you to work every morning. It also has an extremely worn out seat which makes the ride to workvery uncomfortable. And since it leaks a ton, you have to put more money and time into it than you should and more than other people do with their cars. Now I ask you, is the car broken? Would you be happy with promises of your car being fixed for over a year and nothing to show for it? (I and many others have been hearing the promises for a year, not now just since february) It is the same case with SWG. Sure I can take it for a ride, but I shouldnt be so uncomfortable. I shouldnt have to put so much effort into it while other people have cars that dont leak and just cruze along.

I'm sorry, I dont agree with you at all. I would consider that car broken and I consider this game broken from a commando's perspective.

the mans got a point - but i would put up with that car as long as no springs on the seats poke me in the balls, and no toxic fumes come out from anywhere. That reminds me of my first car actualy, but it didnt leak oil

*memories*

SWG has this thing where you can cancel your account, and your char + possesions will still be intact. You might like a 3 month break, and when you come back, the goods might be just around the corner and youll be grining from ear to ear.

A repost to my take on JTL for those who haven't visited the site:

I just gotta repost this for this fella, just in case you haven't been to the site.

Don't get me wrong. I'm anticipating JTL like the next guy. But if it is released prematurely EVERYONE will be dissatisfied. Why don't we fix what we have and THEN release JTL? The combat balance/revamp was delayed again... and again... and again. It needs to be done! I'm simply stating that it is MORE if not JUST as important as JTL. The first game I ever played was Tie Fighter. It's how I got into computer games. I'm a Star Wars fan myself (Event I hosted). But when I see a problem, I think of a way of doing something about it.

You might find it ironic that I play a rifleman/combat medic (A powerful setup, no doubt, but I'd rather do well in a balanced combat environment than do well because I happen to choose something from a limited list of effective set ups). I want what's best for the players and Star Wars Galaxies as a whole! If we do not get the combat balance, and if JTL gets release prematurely, it will definitely not benefit the SWG community. Attend this event! Whether the combat balance gets done in a timely fashion or not, we WILL send a message to the developers!

The combat balance was one of the things that was pushed back one too many times. It's time to act, and encourage the devs to finish it! We WILL be heard! Salute goes out to those that will attend tommorow's event, they are the people that will make a difference. Please support us. A finishes product is in everyone's best interest. Cheers.
