There is no special I can think of in Commando that justifies us having to have Unarmed IV unless the devs pictured every Commando as a TKM.
I would be a much happier camper if such a change was implemented. It really alliviated some of the issues with Bounty Hunters and I feel that It would do the same for a lot of commandos who do no want TKM. At the very least, it would give commandos the ability to pick up some extra defense or medic or terrain negotiation.

Not Garvin, and not a dev, but I'm of the opinion that the devs have to make a few key decisions beforethe final fate of the Commando profession is determined...
Do they make us a "Specialist-Combat" profession, or keep us as an "Elite Hybrid-Combat" profession? ![]()
If they decide tomake us a "Heavy Weapon Specialist", they can drop all but one line (Marksman-Ranged Support?) anddo sometweeking andthey would be "finshed". ![]()
If they decide to make us the "Commando" profession, they have to decide a which way to go with a revamp. Cloning and modifying the profession tree of what SHOULD be our closest compairableprofession(by SP spent on a "Combat Prereg") Bounty Hunter, Or revamping our profession tree intosomethingwhich has at least SOME modifers to our BASE Master Marksman and maybe reflects the unarmed prereg, besides redefining us a THE Heavy Weapons profession. ![]()
Personally, I prefer the idea of being a "Commando" with eather a cloned and modified profession tree, or revamped onebased on the original vision/description. ![]()
I really hate that a Master Commando/Master "Insert ranged specialist" has no better offensive modifiers, than andMaster "Insert Ranged specialist ". ![]()

We have our Unarmed pre-req for many reasons...first and foremost I believe is to earn the power the Devs feel we are capable of (and more so when the Combat Revamp finally hits)...Second is because, to them, it gives us a COMBAT background that the Devs feel go along with a "Commando"...And Third, to make us different then Bounty Hunters...
If we lost the Unarmed Pre-Req I can promise you the first thing that would happen is our DoT would be reduced to the power of a bleed and our initial shot will also be several reduced in power...We'd gain more skill points, but we'd end up losing what makes us Commandos...We currently cost the most Combat Re-reqs of Any Profession...That gives us a serious bargining chip...
Justification for the Unarmed pre-req could be just around the corner...Check out the proposals for the Smuggler Revamp...they are going to be getting special unarmed moves thanks to their pre-req...I see that happening for us as well...
I'd hate to see us give up our Unarmed Pre-req replacing it with any other tree before the Revamp...We could end up throwing the dice on the table, seeing the revamp come, and realizing we crapped out because we could have had much better...
As I've said in the past...We are betting a lot on the Revamp (and publish 10)...if we don't get what we need, I (with all of your support) will be pushing 100% for a complete Commando Revamp (which may include pre-reqs)...I'm giving the Devs their time...hopefully they are going to make the best of it...

Garvin, I'm sorry but if the devs can't figure out a way to make commando work even w/ the CR, I won't stick around to wait even longer on a commando revamp. All we do is wait in this game... wait for combat balance, wait for combat revamp, wait for shuttles, wait for buffs, wait for jedis to have 2 publishes, wait for JTL, etc. I think SWG could be worth the wait, but my patience is running thin. They said wait last December (from what I've gathered) and the CR wont be done till this December! After 1 year, if it's still not fixed,that's pathetic!
Trust me...I agree...and for a long time we've been bringing the devs some great revamp ideas...but everytime I propose a major revamp idea to the devs (from our forum) they respond with "That issue will be addressed in the Combat Balance...please wait"...No matter what I have brought them over the last several months, the response has always been the same...They've often said they love our ideas and will see what they can include into the CB, but again, "Wait for the CB"...that's why I've resigned myself to waiting for the Combat Revamp to see our MAJOR fixes...I more then expect some of our "Quick Fixes" to be address by or with Publish 10 (slated for end of August)...Once the Combat Revamp FINALLY comes and goes, the devs won't be able to say "Wait for the Combat Balance"...That's when I'll be able to refuel my requests for a revamp...and that's why unfortunately we have to wait for the Major Fixes....

Well my friend, you are more patient than me! I would finally cave in at that point if we still need a revamp. I'm surprised I haven'tyet! The devs have built up the CR so much that I'm sure they're afraid they can't do all they promised. No wonder they keep putting it off.
