Thread: Heavy weapons, why?
ATM I hit more often with my flamethrower and I do more damage/time, not to mention damage/hit!
And whats the deal with grenades? The splash radius never seems to manifest itself...
Blast damage vulnerability will be coming out soon for turrets and AT-STs. They're also seriously buffing turrets, so the rocket launcher will be pretty much required for any base raids. You'll also be able to take out AT-STs much more quickly with a RL, and from longer range as well.
The PBC is AP3 and if they ever fix the AP bug, it'll be a decent weapon for PvP. You can also do some pretty sick damage in PvE with it once you get to higher leves for speed mods, and if you get a speed slice.
I find the same thing for grenades, right now I just use them on lairs to get the extra combat xp. I hardly ever throw them in combat when the option is to /flamesingle2 something for 7000 dmg or so.
In PvP i cant see their use, because they dont have any state effects....and they should in my humble opinon.

oh, agree on the PBC, it is a pretty sick weapon once you start hitting regularly with it.

Once you're good with that HPB, you can start taking high level solo missions. An effective hit at 48m of upwards of 8k to 10k per hit is a useful weapon. 32 charges, and go for about 15k on starsider, head to dathomir, pick up a baz nitch mission, and the thing pays for itself in out outing. If you're having trouble with highlevel agro NPC's such as Tuskens, they also work wonders, if you can taget them one on one. I spent about two hours at a Tusken raided town, picking off each one of the lesser ones with the FT, and putting down chiefs, captains, and eventually a king with the HPB.
If anyone says it's not worth the cash, they aren't making their money back effectively, and having fun with it.
I hate to be a pesimist but:
The RL: A rare weapon for the price, requires proton grenades which require a not easily attanable ore as well as alot mroe resources then a HBC and the other limited use weapons
Vehicals: Unless other people haven't noticed using a HW on a moving target is unlikely to hit, hence double or triple that speed and we are going to hit 2 or 3 times less then a moving player, creature, or NPC target.
correct me if I"m wrong.
Basically the HPBC is the easiest thing to find and can sell for as low as 5k for 33 charges on some servers. Since it's near the bottom of the HSW tree you have good mods by the time you get HSW III for it and it's very usable and reliable.
The RL is too hard to find -but worth buying if you see one because of themassive damage it is capable of.The acid stream launcher...well its kinda the same story as the HAR. It'sok but why bother if you can use the HPBC.
A few times I've fired an RL getting the lower end of the damage thinking...**edit** I couldve just used my HPBC for that.
When vehicles come, we'll get a better understanding of when to use what weapon. For now, the HPBC is your best bang for the buck.

Maybe its just me, but I would think that since the heavy lightning cannon requires three boxes of skill, it would be at least somewhat better than the HPBC in rate of fire, or damage, or whatever... but its not. In fact, the stats are GREATLY inferior. **edit** is up with that? Is it just that the optimal resources for the higher support weapons have not spawned yet?
if they make it nearly impossible to storm a base without a rocket launcher, lol the devs better make em not need photon gernades
after making around 4-6 rocket launchers at 1k a charge (29-32k for the various ones) she declared she would not make anymore...
