Ok the +12 speed one can obtain from the Village.. does it work?

I have a Master Commando with +12 Speed upgrade and a Flamethrower with 3.5 Speed..

A friend of mine has a Master Commando.. no speed bnous and the same FT..

Guess what..

We shout at the same speed..

Umm.. so whats the points of these skills then?

I know several peeps who do the village just to get those enhanced skills.. do they even work for all careers.. as far as I can see they dont for Commando

They'll be great when they're not bugged.

Currently, at least the last report I received, Ranged FS mods do not work for ANY ranged weapon...this is a known bug, but I'm not sure on the status of it...

Rumor has it that currently Melee FS Mods are working for Ranged weapons, but I hear mixed responses as whether they work for our Heavy Weapons...If you are going the FS route and would rather have Ranged Enhancements over Melee, I would HIGHLY suggest not taking the FS Melee mods as it may be hard to change them to the Ranged version when they fix the bug...I'd go with the Ranged version and hope it's fixed soon...If you are planning on getting both Melee and Ranged (like a TKM/M.Commando type template) then that's cool...

At least with this issue we are not alone...The other Ranged professions aren't happy either...with this much support the Devs are definitely working on the issue...

Hmm that's annoying. Of course I'm not going to the village anytime soon since I'm not glowing in the force yet anyways. Of course I'm working on it. Hopefully by then this will be fixed. This is a big issue since melee fighters certainly don't need anymore power. They should fix this before JTL if you ask me.

You know, I was thinking about these "enhancements" today, or rather any combat related"enhancement". Because as far as I know, luck works (in the form of a few extra credits). The boosts to crafting works. Vehicle control even works. But the combat related ones dont. Why?

IMHO, I think they aren't working for a reason...I would be willing to bet the house that once the Combat Balance goes in the Sandbox, these will magically start working correctly.

Why?

Too much has been brought to the powers that be for there NOT to be a response on something. Which leads me to believe all or part of the following:

  • First, they know they aren't working, therefore they are staying quiet about it - because they dont know how to fix it (surprise!! surprise!! surpise!! - think Gomer Pyle)

  • Second, they know they aren't working, and this is intended, and will start working when the CB hits the sandbox. Look at it this way: Starship terminals are already in live. They are just turned off. You can target them, but nothing else.

But what bothers me is if they know they arent working, they should say: "Players, just so you know, the FS enhancements are not working and this is intended. These are enhancements for the CB. Once the CB goes into testing, these will work as intended"

- or -

"Players, we know these aren't working, this is on our plate to fix, but be patient with us while we roll out JTL so that we can put a better product out for you". -

If these did in the current setup of the game, it could potentially create some possibly waaaaay overpowered templates...

Garvin, feel free to drop some obscure hint ingreen at anytime in this thread if I am sniffing of the right trail. Even if its the smallest little green.

To be 100% honest, I don't know the status of the FS Mod issue or if the Devs have any secret plan...All I know is that MANY correspondents have reported the same issues (especially the Ranged Profession Correspondents) and the Devs did acknowledge it's a known issue...

The only little big I THINK I picked up on is (and this is only speculation from what I've heard) that no MAJOR changes will go into the game prior to JTL's release...only minor tweaks and fixes...and my guess on this is because, this close to an expansion release the Devs don't want to change anything major that might screw something up with JTL (there have been patching the Live servers in preperation for JTL's release I believe...so, knowing that the FS Mod thing isa known bug, I bet it's a huge issue to fix (otherwise they'd have fixed it with the other recent Jedi related fixes)...

Other then that speculation, I did hear that when the Sandbox goes live, testers will be able to test all profession templates as well as FS and Jedi...SO...If the FS mods are not fixed by the time Sandbox testing starts up, I GUARENTEE the devs will hear about it EVERYDAY with EVERY test report we make...I mean really...how can we properly test everything if that isn't fixed...Hopefully it won't take that long though...

yes but the way i see it is what is the point of puting something in the game when it doesnt work , and then say when we put JTL out we'll fix it , it would suit them better if they fixed there problem first instead of lanching ( hehe) a Expanchion Pack first not really Forward thinking , just seems to be Skirting the problem all the time

I have looked for an acknowledgement from the devs and I just cant find one. Have they mentioned in the correspondent forums? Hell, I cant even get a ticket to be responded about it. And I have filed probably 5 of them since FS mods came out, seeing that my toon was a Master Commando/TKM when it unlocked.

Then again, I have lost all faith in CSR's since the Jedi that filed a ticket about bugged visability and the CSR told him to replace his video card.

"We shout at the same speed.."

I just saw my wonderfull typos, but you all understood my main concern here. Im still at the stage where I beleive that if the devs know that there is a problem they will action it at one point.. I just feel itis awfull that they implement something that does not work.

Now il get back to shouting

thanks for the replies.

The Devs have responded regarding the FS issue in the Correspondent forum, but only very briefly with a "it's a known issue that is currently being looking into"...And I haven't heard more since...I've chalked it up to them spending 99.9% of their time working on JTL currently as to why we haven't heard anything...Since about the middle of September, Communication, even in the Correspondent Forum, has been very spotty due to some much attention being put on getting JTL out on time (end of October)...TH pops into the Correspondent forum every so often to tell us that communication will really pop back up when JTL goes out, but in the mean time to expect more of the same until then...That's one of the reasons I'm still in the dark about the status of the Combat Revamp docs and the FS mod issue...The only folks that we Correspondents have kept in constant communication with is the Combat Revamp Technicians/Programmers (they are not working on JTL) who keep us aprised as to the upcoming plans and status of the Revamp (they also don't know exactly when they Docs will go public...that's in other Dev hands)....

I'll bring it up again to see if I can get a response, but this all goes back to my theory that things will be fairly quiet until JTL launches because I don't think the Devs are ALLOWED to focus on anything else...

"Ok the +12 speed one can obtain from the Village.. does it work?"

+12 what speed? Are you referring to ranged or melee? I got the melee speed tree and it seems to speed up my FT by over a second.

Garvin,

I am just getting the sneaky feeling that SOE is putting all its eggs in the wrong basket. I get the feeling that they think JTL is going to change the landscape of the way the game is played.

Its not.

I am going to buy JTL for the sheer convenience of getting from Rori to Dath in under a couple minutes. Everytime. I might be violating the NDA by saying this, but JTL isnt all that and a bag of peanuts. Its fun for 10-15 minutes, unless you have friends with you, then the fun maybe lasts 45 minutes. Players not in Beta, are going to get fed up with the bugs that (insert problem here).

They need to realize that there are ALOT of players out there that could give two poops about JTL.

To disregard the core system the way they have, is a narrowminded mistake that is going to bite them in rear.

Acknowledgements to the general public need to be made. Even carrots would be tastey right now. Give me a reason not to cancel my accounts and let them lose revenue for 3 months.

Trust me...I totally agree...In my mind, JTL sales would do MUCH better if the ground game was functioning better and there was a part of the customer base that is hessitent about investing more money due to the "not knowing" surrounding the Combat Revamp...So, personally, I would have done the Revamp first before putting out the Expansion...

The only problem with that logic is that I don't know how much in advance they had to schedule the expansion...They may have started the whole JTL process prior to the Revamp even being a thought...and if that's the case, they may have had to do JTL first (via some time of agreement with LucasArts or such)...who knows...
