Hi All,

Does anyone know the stats on Commando weapons, is there a site to it? Maybe after looking at it, have better idea.

I hear about peope want to become TKA, Pistoler,Riflemanetc with Commando. I was thinking of exactly the same thing. ButCommando is a profession that has both long range and short range skills. So flame thrower is a short range skill, so is TKA and Pistoler. It doesn't sound like it makes sense to combine those types of profession. To advance in Flame thrower and TKA/Pistoler, you have to flip between those two skills for short range combat? As you know, once you hit the elite professions, takes ALOT of experience. It seems redundant. Can someone clarify that?

I am not going to post my template..

However..

I'd advise you to look at what other bonuses come from training in certain skills, defense, offense, dodging, blocking, etc.

Perhaps your points would not be best spent on active skills/abilities (aka, new types of attacks and what not..) but the passive abilities that augment and increase your current abilities/weaknesses

The way I see it, you can go Commando and Master anything in the Marksman or Unarmed tree (Rifleman, Pistoleer, CArbineer, TKA, Smuggler). I am not sure what other combinations work, but I have not seen too many templates. I have not decided what to do to complement Commando, but I know Unarmed is the easiest skill to raise so I am holding off on that. I am working Pistol and RIfle to get my Comabt XP up.

If anyone has any other suggestions, it owuld be great to know.

Actually you Can master Both Commando and Any Elite Pure combat line, Such as Pistol, Riffle, TKA, Pole arm...ect Or Smuggler and Commando.

Also Something to Keep in mind is the Flamethrower, While being a Close range optimized weapon, it Still carries the Heavy weapons melee multiplier of 3xDamage. So Obviously you do Not Want to be holding your Flamethrower or Rocket launcher(or any heavy weapon for that matter) in the Face of even the Smallest Creatures. COMMANDO has NO Close Combat Abilities, AT THIS TIME. However I Expect this to Change Especially When they realize the unarmed requirement needs to have a purpose and Go Somewhere within the tree.

Personally I think TKS+Commando is by far the Best option right now, Commando For Damage at Range and TKS for Up close and personal Combat, not to mention the Dueling benefits (Knockdown-Dizzy-Knockdown-Flamethrower-Flamethrower-FLAMETHROWER! While your opponent just twitches on the ground trying to get up...Muahaha! ^_^) It was My first Prof Combination Choice and practically Flawless. Although Already having gone TKS+Comando(before the unarmed changes and the Commando weapons went in) in beta I Don't want to Repeat that, and Cause I have faith they will add some Close combat to the commando Along with Some More Cool Toys ^_^,

So I Am gonna Go Commando + Smuggler + Novice TKS. TKS for meditate and Dizzy and Knockdown, Mentioned above ^_^ . Commando For the Commando, No Explanation required, and Smuggler For Slicing, Smuggler Faction benefits, Smuggler mission benefits, and Especially the Drugs (Something I Don't Agree with being on the Smuggler tree at all, But more then Happy to take advantage off

What wearbear is alluding to and what a lot of stats junkies have noticed is there are lines from the TKA tree and from the rifle\pistol\carabine trees where you can pick up a LOT of enhancments for NOT A LOT of points.

IE: There is line in the TKS tree (4 boxes going straight up) where you can get something like +40 to melee and +40 to ranged defense for around 15points or so.

In the pistol\carabine\rifle tree there is places where you can get about +30 to a weapons speed and accuracy just by chosing 3 boxes from the tree (and novice of course).

If you really get into it... you can find places where important damage\speed\defense modifiers are concentrated and target those areas to compliment the commando's special weapons (and its not like a commando doesnt get some nice modifiers going up his tree eh?)

+60 to heavy weapons speed and +60 heavy weapons accuracy is **edit** nice =)

Oh bah.. I'll go ahead and share a bit more.

TKA Precision Striking Line.

This line has all Melee/Ranged Defense bonuses in the TKA tree (except for Master TKA).

I am a Wookie (Wookie4tehwin!!..err..sorry.. DAoC coming back..ahem) and I want to be able to use a Ryyk Blade as well. So, I'll be training up to at least 3 in One-handed Melee.

However, there are ALOT of bonuses in the Fencing line as well, for Melee Defense.

There is also an entire line in Pikeman dedicated to nothing but pure defense (and it's pretty **edit** nifty, if I wanted to used a staff or something instead)

The way I see it, Commando's are going to pack the most ranged damage of any class (eventually, our weapons are kinda sucky right now I understand). But, have a Severe Melee Weakness (Heh.. I am about this (||) close to giving up on my wookie, because he just can't take a hit. Trying Stat migration first to tweak him out. If that's no good, I may be rerolling to a Trend). So, I am going to be Augmenting my Commando with as much +defense as I can.

Pistols also supposedly have a very good defense line.. Not alot of +'s, but you get something called Pistol Melee Defense (I believe you can just pistolwhip someone and stun em). Rifleman also has a bit as well, if you are wanting to go a pure ranged line.

Sometimes it's not the active abilities in the line that makes the line worth it, but the passives.

Anywho, your mileage my vary.

This is exactly why I want to be a commando. Everyone and their grandma wants to be either a Bounty Hunter or some type of crafter. . . I wish to at least try to be unique. I was actually thinking of mixing Commando with Scouting and Medic skills to make me more self sufficient. That way I could forage for resources, and make my own camps and medical supplies. Of course once you get to the point that money is no object you may be able to just go to a bazaar and just buy all you need but now (I'm just starting out) my money is scarce so any I can save is a bonus. Plus the thought that with the heavy weapons support a Commando has the best shot of taking out a Krayt single handed is pretty cool.

Thoughts anyone?

I'm also trying to be somewhat different in how I raise my Commando. I really enjoy trapping and find myself debating about streamlining to Master explosives. I'm unsure however about my melee, I haven't done any training in brawling (as of yet). I'm also not wanting to master every one of those skills. Would it hurt me to streamline one of those only? Any suggestions on which would be best to streamline?

I was actually thinking of complementing the Commando line with some Creature Handler stuff. With Novice CH for example, I can buy a good pet from a Master CH with no problems and gain an additional factor as far as battles are concerned.

I have also been toying around with the idea of going up a Teras Kasi line for the defense bonuses as well as perhaps even going up the Swordsman line a bit.

I don't have a problem with having to switch out weapons. In the field a rocket launcher is not going to do much good at 5m anyway, so it makes sense that it wouldn't do as well here. Remember that you can hotkey anything in your inventory, so you can hotkey a pair of Vibroknuckles in there and switch to those during close combat, or whatever melee weapon you want to go with. You also get Intimidate skills that slow down the attack rate of the opponent, so you can use those to your advantage.

One nifty skill I saw was a Blind skill in the Teras Kasi skill tree, I think. I am not sure if that makes the opponents screen go black in PvP, but if it does, you can use that to blind them momentarily, open up some distance and switch to your favorite Heavy Weapon and watch them go boom.

grrr, lost the post, this forum is so over burdened...

I also thought about using bonuses from other elite professions to complement the Commando profession. Flame Thrower gets a 3x melee damage? Wow, so what does Commando for melee attack? use unarm combat? That just doesn't make sense. 30 m out, flame on! oh wait, now he's 5m, switching to fists. Sounds like the profession needsalot tweaking, especially what you guys say in beta.

Some one even suggested being a Novice BH only. That's a very interesting thougth just to be able to use the weapons. I don't plan to be a 'power gamer' / master PvP, but want to have fun and explore different professions. Being a novice BH and Commando, you can basically use all range weapons. Being a jack-of-all-trades won't win much PvP battles, but it'll be alot of fun to use the different weapons. Maybe even go CH just to see what it's like.

Thanks for the info. Even tho I've played computer RPG's since the D&D goldbox days, this is my first MMORPG. I'm enjoying it so far, despite all the *ahem* problems.

Now if I can only connect to Starsider...

YOu are all getting confused with the HeavyWeapon stuff...maybe. The FlameThrower and Acid rifle are for creatures/people. Explosives and HeavyWeapons are for Vehicles.

And the 3x melee damage is not you do 3x the damage, you take 3x the melee damage when you got a heavy weapon out. Thats why ppl are listed off skills you can take to boost your defense up.
