How do you do that? When I charge in first I die. Kind of sad being a Commando.
If I act as Crowd Control all the NPCs come after me for KDing and putting a Flame DoT on them. I've never bothered to use Crowd Control in PvP since no group clusters themselves like such.
And even if I stick to Damage I die, though usually the third to the last person. I did have the honor of being the second to last person in my group of 8 falling to two Jedi. No we didn't have any Jedi so there!
But I have found if I take out my kick arse Vibro Lance I boost all my Ranged Defense by 40 and Melee by 50 by switching to Melee (Great when your overwhelmed inside a Base, and I haven't got Improved Duelist Stance either yet). Then with CoB I can take some decent punishment, but I really can't do much for damage even with a Good Vibro Lance.
In my PvP groups, I'm almost always the last to die, if I die at all...
Erm... In space that is...

You're my hero... I drop almost instantly, of course maybe that's cause the only PvP on my server is groups of jedi ganking people
Once all the jedi see me Intimidating, Stunning, Blinding, Rooting,KDing and setting them all on fire they typicaly focus fire on me
This is in Large Scale PvP 15-30 per side.
Probly need to save the root for when they do come after me....
I have learned how to run from jedi quite well 
One of my nicest escapes was when I was doing my rounds overt (Bestine, Theeda and Cornet) when I loaded into 4 jedi...... KDed/Mezed with my FT, ran for the opposit end of the starport (not the way people normaly go) Rooted with the ASL and used the JTL terminal thats right there to launch into space
Can escape quite nicely in starports and even on open ground. (KD/Mez with FT then Root with ASL then get out of range enuf to call swoop then im out of there )
