I just got flame single and I'm a little confused. I attacked a mob and he appeared to die from the burn effect of the flamer. I understood that dots couldnt kill. I also got no XP for the kill and didnt have permission to access the corpse - however this doesnt seem to be in anyone's top 5 list??

DOT's can kill, and try killing more than 1 creature before thinking there is a problem.

if I dont get XP or permission to loot the corpse then how is this not a problem?

It isn't a problem because you only tried it on one type of mob one time. Did you try it out on other people? You need more variables before you can conclude that something is a problem and should be added to our type 5 problems, when it isn't even a problem.

if it had 100% heat resist then how would I do damage at all? does the DOT ignore resists?

It was a random gungan mission, got XP for the other 2 but on the one that the dot killed I didnt get XP or looting rights

did you do more damage then the DOT????

this is not a problem, just a small missunderstanding

ok one ofthree things happened... you killed a mob w/ 100% heat resist... these do not yeild any exp b/c you do not damage them, the flame dot does all the damage

or you use a reg firesingle and the mob dodged or counter attacked the flame ( no dmg taken but the dot sticks ) where as the dot did all the damage

or... you ae'd one of the mobs and one of the others you did not target was hit and that one died purely to the burn even tho you hit it ( ae attacks are currently bugged to hell right now exp/looting rights )

ANd no-one else thinks it is a problem that the DOT steals XP and looting rights if you get dodged/countered or it does more damage?

nope. As long as you hit the monster {it doesn't counter or dodge}, you get all the exp, even with burn {i'm also sure if it has 100% heat you'll still get exp, but its been awhile that I fought one}. I think its fair.

accidentaly found this out fighting an enraged bull rancor which dizzy/kd me after i stacked up firesingle2 and flamecone2 and never hit it w/ any other weapon. it died, no weapon or combat exp or loot rights

i killed nightsisters just last night, and (correct me if im wrong) they have 100% heat resists. i *did* get xp for hitting them with dot but doing no damage, however, if they countered or dodged, there was 0 exp.

from this pathetic experiment, i conclude:

you get xp as long as you hit the mob once, as well as looting rights, regardless if the actual hit does any damage.

ah, alright. I maxed out and combat and heavy weapon exp, so I didn't really noticed. Kinda odd not getting any messages when you kill a monster ^.^
