I mave to say mercenary, at least at first. I'm sorry, but I never got into the whole Commando = Mandalorian thing. Of course, if no one will pay us then I'm up for whatever faction gives us more fights. I admit that I am biased towards Imperials (fan of the armor), but I'm willing to give Rebel a try. Anyways, for purposes of this thread I am going to vote:

Guys, the idea of being mercenary commandosis cool but unless you're in space you're going to be bored.
If we're even the least bit serious about combat then we have to pick a faction. Neutral on the ground does not equal mercenary. Neutral on the ground is like one of those countries without an army. Thats all good and fine if you like peace, if you're a merchant, crafter,or an entertainer (IRL you might even argue). But commandos are defined by war. If you want to be a commando who runs around picking flowers or lighting up durnis all day then by all means, be neutral. But if you want to be a commando in the real sense then you need a war to fight, and in this game you need a side to fight for. If you're thinking we stay neutral until some other guild pays us to join their side thenthere are some things you need to consider


1--In order to fight in large-scale battles where our profession shines, we'd have to depend on some payment that may never come, most guilds probably would laugh at the offer since everyone thinks Jedi decide all combat in the GCW.


2--When you fight in the GCW then you're going to get points for one side and negative for the other. Switching back and forth is going to be a headache for anyone on short notice.


3--Guild Sovereignty. Maybe I'm alone on this but I don't want some guy thinking I'm going to follow his orders because he threw some credits at me. WE should pick who we fight for, not some chump with extra credits to spend.


I say we pick a side, stick with it, and leave the rest in flames.



EDIT: I do like the idea of being hired out for one side or the other, so what if we spent time honing our space fighting skills as well as our blistering ground attack. If we all went Privateer in space we really could hire ourselves out easily. There are actually some nice neutral ships--the grievous starfighter is just straight up nasty when properly outfitted and used. Privateers also get the best group ship, the YT 1300 (milennium falcon) that carries enough guns to bring a tear toany commando's eye. In space, even when we're between hires, we still get to kill 'em all.

Why doesn't someone post on the Starsider forum to let them know that a bang of commandos are about to join in the fray over there? Then we could ask them what faction to join. Or rather, what faction we should join in order to bring some life back into the GCW on that server? Just a suggestion.

I think by voting nuetral o merc, that means we simply switch sides or faction to whomever pays more. One day we a rebel, next day imp, or even more dasterdly, we switch sides in middle of a fight! Have a little BH in our trees, and if the pay is right take out a contract on our supposed allies, thus taking out the jedi out of a battle.

Okay, I went to starsider and asked how the GCW was going, below is a the url for that thread. Sorry, don't know how ot clicky yet.

basically the feel I get is that the GCW is at kind of a stalemate with a minor advantage for the Rebels.
In light of this and my own biases (yeah I'm biased, but the thread is there so I'm not lying) I would like to change my vote from merc to Imperial.
