It uses heavy weapon mods. so a master rifleman doesn't gain thatmuch benifit, other than general ranged mods.

Becuase it is considered a rifle though, and NOT a heavy weapon... It can be pupped

the greatest irony? over half of our craftable weapons are listed in both schematic as well as on vendor/bazaar as "rifle"

HW, its a Commando only weapon, why it takes Master to get the cert. It would be stupid if it required Master Commando and took rifle mods wouldnt it?

Then again...I looted a sword thats certed to master Swordsman off necrosis, and it had 1 handed mods on it

Ok, now I'm confused...... The original poster said needs mrifleman to use it. and that seems to be the feeling the rest of the thread untill you left me the above.......... so can someone ease my confused state and spell this out for me as my mind is not functioning at 100% right now.

The Proton Rifle is a Master Commando Cert.

The Proton Rifle takes Heavy Weapon Mods.

The Proton Rifle IS a Heavy Weapon in all respects except perhaps listing and movement speed hinderences (which is good because rifles have less). You don't see us complaining that the Heavy Acid RIFLE is a rifle, because it's a heavy weapon as well.

Aye. I just wish it had an innate state effect like all our other weapons. Though it is sort of made upf or by the +10 HW SPD/ACC. And dear lord is it ever a fun and kick ass weapon. I've been running round playing with mine since patch 19 fixed all the rifles.

no no having it as a rifle makes us able to use powerups on it and that is very very very nice.

And it uses as stated here HW stats.
