C'mon now guys, don't worry about that silly little nda thingy, just a hint would be nice..... Which would be a more versatile "commando" template. I've been a commando/tkm for too long.

Seriously...the only answer I can give, without violating the NDA, is...depends on your play style...both Carbineer and Pistoleer with "compliment" Commandos...and Commando will "compliment" both Pistoleers and Carbineers...

When more CU info comes out you'll want to focus on types of attacks, results of those attacks, weapons available, armor available, and additional variables that improve your template in a way that works best with your type of game play...

While I agree that it is currently a very useful template, I simply hate melee in this game. I want lasers and guns and ewoks. I'm hoping I won't have to give up commando JUST to be able to use a carbine or pistol properly (meaning, ahving to pick up BH JUST to use those weapons decently)

In the end, i hope they come out equal, but in different ways.

Oh, and the way it sounds, MC/MP and MC/MCarb will be better than any MC/MTK

I've always dreamed of being a high offense, low defense player. The kind of guy that performs best in a group. Where I can simply sneak up on my enemies and hit them for a TON of damage. The kind of PvPer that picks and chooses their fights carefully.

I guess what I mean is that I PRAY professions don't HAVE to be stacked with others to be of use, as is the current case with most ranged templates.

Nope...professions dont -have- to be stacked with each other to actually be useful as it is for some professions now. A novice commando for example (108ish SP I believe?) will be more powerful (potentially) than a Novice Carbineer (31ish SP). This is a very general statement however...

A Master Carbineer should -definately- be able to compete, but against a Master Commando...most likely thecommando would win, unless if the Carbineer dabbled in other professions...which would case the amount of SP he invests in combat skills to rise, bringing it closer to what a commando spends...

Basically though, if you want to be the best you'll have to spend all 250 sp on combat. But thats universal as well as logically, and doesn't pertain to any specific uber template...(not like now where a 92 sp TKM can serve a 169 pt Commando's rear on a silver platter...but post-CURB a 169+ sp TKM may have a chance against a 169 sp MC...)

Don't forget what garvin has said in the past where you can "shop" for various skills and abilities. That as well as individual roles for all the combat professions are big - how big and specifically? We don't know since the sandbox hasn't started (and from the looks of Tyrant's last CURB update in the public forums, it may be a few more weeks)...plus even if we did, the NDA wouldn't allow us

Stacking now and Stacking then will be 2 different animals...currently most people stack to gain defenses or some other element that relates to their preferred profession...Commandos often stack for defenses and ranged attack abilities (which requires us to use non-Commando weapons or go for skills we can use with our LP)...

Stacking in the future will be more towards complimenting our play style...without risking TH using a sniper rifle on me, I'll say that a Commando without anything else will be a valid player, but any 250 pt combat template will own the lone Commando...a Commando who spends ALL of their skill points will hae a better chance competing with other 250 pt professions, and depending on the other players build, could even own that type...

Stacking will become more of a way to "polish" and add to your preferred profession. In a way...spending all of your Skill Points will "complete" your template...and every combat profession will have it's own strengths and weaknesses...combining those strengths and weaknesses will make for very interesting builds...but not every build will be able to exploit every weakness, so in other-words...we will own and we will be owned...it's all in the "build"...
