Right now I'm a TKM, working on master creature handler. But when im bored with that, and if they havent struck us down with the dreaded combat nerf yet, i was thinking about getting back into pvp with commando/tk.

As it is, with TKM i can knock down and dizzy almost anyone, even the defense stackers, just takes some patience and skill. Throw on intimidate, stun, blind, dizzy, then knockdown or lunge and it'll take anyone down.

Thing is, ive seen the kind of damage a flame thrower can do in pvp (if it hits). once your target is kd/dizzy you have quite a bit of time to get that dot to stick. A guild member on my server has a 1200+ max damage flamethrower with 3.2 speed, my best one (from last time i was commando, but i never got far) is 4.0 speed, 1012 max damage.

So I'm wondering if anyone else with the TKA/commando template has success in pvp. I'm talking more along the lines of duels though, not factional pvp, So most docs would be counted out (if they were knocked down and dizzy, they'd not only have to spam /stand /healstate, but also heal the dot, and stacking 3 or 4 flame dots would take them a while).

I figure if they're down, and i can stick a few of the flame dots, it'd beat most of the average pvpers out there. Any suggestions or comments?

I wish I could help ya but i don't duel that often, i usually stand back and use Aoe rifle specials, then when the peeps try to charge, whip out the trusty Flamer.

duelling with that template can be succesfull..just don't forget thak and don't try to stand up when dizzy

I pvp'd with m commando /carbs 2002 and it was loads of fun

I have a Master Commando TKM template. Yes using a Dizzy KD and then switching to your FT works but I wouldn't recommend it...the lag inbetween switching your weapons is horrifying and if you don't get the burn to stick well your SOL. I am just waiting for the CU to come and un-nerf us as a class.

On another char I'm grinding M commando, medic 0040, pistoleer 0040and either TK 0304 or 0411 (<- thise one most likely).....this will be a pvp char

It gives kd/dizzy, Kd, dizzy and post down with TK, post down with FT, +75 defense vs kd, +50 defense vs post down, as I'm zab also +55 vs dizzy +65 vs stun

+50 vs blind, 47 unarmed thoughness

I have two FT's to use: 2.5 916 max and 3.3 1176 max....and of course my uber consumable 4200 max rockets with +68 accuracy and +90 accuracy HPBC

I was a tkm/commando for some time and in 1v1 duels was fairly successful. I used to lay the dot down first, then dizzy/kd, then spam uh3 while they were down. Worked ok for 1 on 1, definately far from dominant in a big fight though.

much better to KD then put the dot as it'll be 1.5X as big

i was thinking of master commando with either master fencer, or just fencer 0440 and the rest in medic.i've allready mastered commando and got some fencer, and i'm not really digging the fencer profession at all.. if i had a blue frog, i'dprobably just try master commando withtk. but i've mastered tk on my first char, and i didn't care to grind it out again. also, i think it'd be neat to cap dodge and whip out the ole lag pistol, heh heh.

anotherodd idea i heard involving commando was to factor in feign death from smuggler. then, all you would have to do was get a flame to stick on the schmuck and feign away. of course, i'm not sure if meditate will take care of burning although i suspect it will.

You can't meditate while on fire

Well, I'm working for TKA 4/4/4/0, Commando 0/0/4/0, and Master Smuggler. So this is basically what I'll do in duels. And if they're ranged, you can take advantage of /lowblow and /panicshot to delay em, walk over to em, dizzy em, kd em (if they aren't alredy), intimidate em, and slap a warcry on there, then whip out the trusty ol' flamer and stack dots on em. And if they get to the point where you're about to get incpped, you can just feign.

So I'm figuring this is pretty much fullproof, unless you're dueling another Commando or someone with a flame dot and get that on you, which doesn't happen often anyway.

feigning in a duel probably is one of THE lamest things you can do....

most likely two outcomes:

-opponents dot goes away and you like like as -ss
-opponents dot stays and you triple him while FD (woopdiedoo)

and with only flame IV you'll miss a lot more than a master.
