Anyone think of maybe a Gun Like Dot?
Make the flamer so fast, that it constantly, like every second, deals a bit more damage, a bit more damage, a bit more damage, till the thing dies? Treat our weapon as a dot in a way? We hit them really fast, but we do it for say, 500-600 damage per attack (Weak for high level stuff), but we do it like every half second. This'll give us a constant stream of fire, not much of a SAC issue. I think it would be pretty cool. What do you all think? As for specials, deliver the special with the stream.

A cumulative DoT would rock. Say the first attack applies a DoT for say 50 points, the second 100, and so on and so forth as longs as you keep piling the DoT on. By the way, has anyone found out what determines the strength of the DoT? Is it based off of Elemental Damage? or Max damage? or Wound chance?

also, that's a great idea. Every attack add 50 damage to a dot. That way you'd be deadly in a long fight.

A very interesting idea. The more times we hit our opponent, the stronger our DoT on thembecomes... I like it. This would make Commandos pretty deadly in large-scale PvP.

I like your idea and actually why shouldnt this be the case for all DoTs from all weapons? I mean if you are set on fire or poisoned, not attending to this problem will only get worse. I personally have never been set on fire, but I would imagine if I was the damage to me would increase exponentially if I allow myself to burn. It would present such a huge strategy in the game, essentially a countdown for your opponent from when they get the fire to when they can put it out or die. Nothing drastic like pre CU CM poison and such, but it would certainly make docs a key factor in in PvP and make the flamethrower the gift that keeps on giving.

Sry, no on the CM part. CM's already have enough that makes commando what it is, dont give them this little thing that can make us unique.

well I dont see any problem with the same being applied to CM DoTs or any DoTs for that matter. However, I will agree even as an MCM that Fire from a CM is flat out stupid, what are we throwing malatof cocktails or something. I dont know why they even added it, while at the same time reducing disease to being totally ineffective. One thing I always liked about CM was that we used meds, poisons and diseases. I think CM getting a slight tick increase for reapplication would be realistic, and penalizing to the degree that the CM has to waste that time throwing instead of shooting. Slight increase because our cooldown for these tosses is pretty short. Flames should be commando specific IMO, simply because that is where fire comes from. Reapplication from an FT should add a good deal more to the DoT. I am assuming the speed of the FT is pretty slow (just starting commando so dont know yet).

I was thinking more that the DoT hurts more per tick the more it's applied (up to a point). If I catch you on fire it hurts over time. If I catch even more of your body on fire with the next dose it hurts a whole lot more over time. Up to the point that you're completely ablaze, then there's no more of you to catch fire so I can't make you burn more lol.
Anyways, this is all silly because this would just be a really cool game mechanic whether it's based in reality or not(reapplying DoTs and in essence stacking them on themselves).

The Dot should be much more thanthe inconvenience is is at the moment, i think the ideas in this thred are great, but you know the crying will startthe first time a kiddy jedi gets toasted. Howeverif the problem of adding extra damage to it would be overpowering, perhaps they could add a panic or terror mezz, ie. combat speed drops.

In a small way this already is in the game, not damage wise but time wise. If you fire off your PFT and stick a DoT, most likely it'll dissapate after a short while...where as if you keep pelting your target, the DoT seems to stick longer. A few times I have noticed that the longer the fight has been going on, I have seen more fire DoT ticks that are closer to 400 rather than the lower range of 250ish.
Might just be me, but the thought of a cumalative DoT like this would be pretty neat as long as we could get it pretty high (like up to 1,000)...may very well be enough to make up for AoE (even when its 40% and working), as well as the lack of specials.
