Live from Leipzig, SOE has just announced its next expansion for SWG: Trials of Obi-Wan.
...
It will introduce Mustafar, a mining planet where the duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin happened.
Most of its 50 new quests will revolve around Obi-Wan, living as an NPC on the planet, and you'll need to help him find his way. You'll to find your way too as every quest will ask you to make choices, leading you to the dark or light side of the force. It will impact directly on your standing with Obi-Wan.
Those quest will also talk about the history of Mustafar, which was first seen on the movie but which has not been very used in the Star Wars universe.
LucasArts and SOE also announce that we'll see NPCs from other Star Wars games in this expansion. The speaker was kinda mysterious about it, but some characters from the old world (?) could make a new apparition as a new "shape" [maybe a ghost?]
Misc informations:
- many new instanced areas on the planet ("who have really good reasons to be instanced")
- Mustafar will be totally aimed towards high level players (but you will be able to bring your friends with the sidekick system)
- no new space zone
This add-on will be released along with the DVD of Episode 3... that means November 1st.
No retail box, only available through downlad..
--------------
It has been an honor serving with you.
My account expires next week and will not be renewed.
Go luck to all of you.

WTH...

Obi-Wan is supposed to be dead! The Death Star has been destroyed, he's a bue-glowie... this really has me disheartened if this is true. SWG is going from not living in the Star Wars Universe to beinga random Star Wars showcase... this is most upsetting.

Is anyone surprised that SOE would be investing in another "addon" product to sell in time for Christmas rather than fixing the previous broken product releases it has issued? 50 quests isn't even that impressive, especially with no space zone. It sounds like a Jedi only playground to me. Good luck to them with that.

My mighty Commando heart is breaking.
*arnold voice* Mariaaa!!
I had hoped this garbage was fake, but that just makes me want to puke. Why can't we get our AT-AT's, E-Webs, REAL Rocket Launchers, Demolitions, Combat Tanks, all that cool stuff that we saw in Starwars and Starwars games (set in this timeline!).

Because then this game would be fun. I've had it with this crap. I might add, the new sidekick system sounds like nothing more than a lousy attempt to make non-jedi able to compete when grouped with a jedi.

A side-kick system? Sounds fishy, like a Master-Apprentice thing. It definately doesn't sound like a raid system where several groups can function as a single unit, which a lot of folks want.
As for lava-like lightsabers? I got a bad feeling we're going to be competing with jedi in not just elemental damage, but maybe even fire DoTs too...

There are more lightsaber users in the galaxies than commando's

Yep, we're pretty much the most underused/undermastered ranged profession currently it seems.
Sad considering a commando is suppoused to be one of the ultimate military professions...and sad too when folks say we're suppoused instead (a justification which is also wrong) to be a support profession. Other professions that are "support", have more players than we do...

The words "Commando" and "Support" don't usually go together when it comes to describing what Commandos do.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why the only reason I'm still playing is because of space.
You guys should stop on by http://smugglers.proj2.com/ once in a while. I could probably convince Saarek to get us our own forum, since I'm predicting a lot of us are about to quit...
There's also a few other things on there you might want to look at, things I'd rather keep away from these forums. You'll know it when you see it.
Yeah, I've forgotten how to make clickies.

I told everyone this was coming! I friggin' knew it!
Despite everything being broken, all they care about is pushing out the next expansion, which will do nothing more than introduce even more bugs!

I've known that an expansion was coming for quite some time now. Though I didn't find out the details until a week ago.
