Thread: What Is a Good Damage Ranged Special to Couple with Commando?
dispite what alot of people have told me about last ditch not working with commando weapons. It seems to work just fine for me. At least with a flamethrower. Havent tried it with the others as of yet. Only downside is last ditch is only really useful when your almost dead. And after you use it. You likely will be.
Beyond that I've found alot of the commando specials work very well with it. As well as the smuggler's concussion shot for the root.
Hmmm I was thinking of a non-Critical Shot special.
Anyone else notice that Commando weapons do poor damage, and even the fire DOTs that are supposed to stick rarely do. The area damage DOES NOT WORK. Getting states such as Concussion shot to stick in an AoE is a pain in the ass.
I am very dissapointed in Master Commando. I do better damage with my backup pistol coupled with only Master Smuggler than I do in commando.

Was that a regular flamethrower or a plasma? I tried last ditch with a plasma during a friendly duel after my health was almost gone. The damage it did was barely over 200 points. I was very disapointed. ![]()
As for good damage specials to use with commando weapons, I find that improved leg shot does rather well.
I was using a 300 base DPS Plasma Flamethrower (430 modified DPS). The actual DPS was pretty bad, even coupled with the general ranged mods from smuggler. I'm not too certain that the Plasma Thrower even HAS a AOE damage zone, but I can tell you from experience that the Lightning Beam Cannon and Rocket Launcher do have them.
If only the damage was upped just a hair and AOE put into place, would I even begin to consider that Commando is rated a 5 for damage output.
Can not say I have found a really good special and weapon to deliver great damge. However, like others have said concussion seems to work well. I do not use it for the damge output, but for the root effect. I have found that whenh in groups and we are being mobbed I use my flamethrower, usualy plasma, and tend to root anywhere from 3 to 6 opponets. Makes it easier, if only for the duration of the special, for my group to take them out. Just my opinion.
For other specials I use them as I see an oppurtunity. Besides concussiob shot I have no favorites. I tend to mix them up.

Bounty Hunter's critical shot is nice with a flamethrower, especially if the hit really is critical.
It's even nicer with Advanced Critical Shot.

Critical or Leg shot is good. I believe regular leg shot has a higher damage multiplyer then advanced mind shot.

Underhand did about the same as my rocket launcher in both damage and kd. Critical and improved crit didn't increase the damage all that much. With a 400dps plasma flamer I was getting about 600 pts a hitor so with improved crit and 800+ with body shot from pistoleer.
2) Duelist stance and improved duelist stance are very nice for damage mitigation.

I find that odd, because my Plasma FT is a preCU crappy DPS POS and hit's 900 a pop with headshot.
