I just recently became a CM, and I'm enjoying it. At the same time, my eyes have been opened to many of my past arguments. I've said these things:

CMs can hit the mind pool and run while it ticks, damn them!

This is true, but I've noticed that I'm very vulnerable for a period of time. First, when I throw my poison, I'm stationary for 4 seconds, in which BH or Smugglers tend to use KD and dizzyattacks, or meleers close the gap to 25m and KD me. After they dizzy me, I can't burstrun, and burstrunning beforehand is a bad idea, because every second of that burstrun counts. If someone is going to argue that ticking the poison is cheap, then they shouldn't spam KD so that their opponent is made completely ineffective until they are dead. At least my opponents have a chance to take me out while my poisons get to work.

Furthermore, our poisons tick once every 10 seconds. Can you imagine the number of hate mails that would rise up if all of the professions had their damage succeed only once every ten seconds?

CMs can hit me through walls, damn them!

As a rifleman, I commonly shoot people through walls, and I've been shot with status specials countless times through walls. I've even been hit through walls by meleers. Believe it.

CMs triple incap!

Someone who focuses on CM is likely (but not always) to be VERY weak at close range, so getting near you while your friends are alive is a bad idea. They're going to dizzy/kd us and we'll get to watch as we can do nothing to stop our death. Also, we have no DB at all.

CMs deal tremendous wounds!

On-fire, anyone? The number of wounds this deals has been greatly reduced, but this now acts as a poison-wound combo. When is the last time you've been in a fight with a BH or Commando who didn't set you on fire, and then repeatedly intensify the flames? Furthermore, many good PvPers have a DoT weapon that either has fire or disease.

CMs use giant area attacks!

We use area attacks at a weakened range and weakened strength. I pick and choose the best opportunities to use area poisons, because I'm extremely vulnerable while using them (reduced range), and the cost had better be worth it. InTheed,we Rebels often have bouts with Imps who will keep coming back from the clone center, intent on killing us. When they run these suicide missions, I have to kill them as quickly as I can, so I don't bother with my poisons. Why waste good poisons?

Well, those are my .2 credits.

Nice sum up of some of the main arguments that are brought up all that time. Thanks.
