Thread: 'nother question from a Smuggler's perspective.

Look'n for opinions (both PvP and PvE) for the following "Template"...


Master CM

Smuggler 0040

TKA 0300


I'm sure there may be better combinations, but this one seems interesting..


This would be for an alt on a new server.. I know it's a cheezy combination in PvP and it might piss-off a buncha people hehe But it kinda looks like fun.

You would be hella innacurate with fists or pistols. I'd say you are better off forgetting TKA and go with Pistol 0300/Smuggler 0040/MCM. If you would rather go the melee route then you could go TKA4404/MCM. I did that template for a while and I did well in PVE or PVP.

Thanks for the reply - The main idea, was to go for a lil bit of defense - and TKA0300 is great for melee defense for the cost...


As for offense, well, honestly what would be better than disease + poison then feign-death to take no damage... might take a while, but it's 98% safe. Exploit? Nope. It's using the game-mechanics to one's advantage.

Feign only works if they dont realize you are feigning. They can still lay damage on you even while feigned although they have to be guessing alot on wether you're incapped or not and when to DB you. Poisons and especially diseases take a while so I hope you bring a good book. A poison by itself will not incap a person but a bug in the system lets a poison and disease do so. The issue was addressed once and fixed but then unfixed by accident in one of the past patches or hotfixes. CM's who rely solely on their poisons and diseases are usually noobs. You'd be better off using your pistol specials in conjunction with a mind AND health poison.


You'd be better off going TKM and a partial on CM if you're so hard up about using poisons and diseases. You'll just have to buy the poisons instead of making them yourself to get the good ones and forget about any area poisons or diseases as the med use is usually over 75. TKM by itself can do more damage than any poison other than acklay enhanced.

Like I said above, I did very well in PVE and PVP as a TKA 4404/MCM. During large scale battles the Meditation treewas beneficial.Having the ability to boost my stats, force myself up from an incap for a last ditch AE bombing, or healing away mind wounds after a mind heal absolutely rocked.Having the Balance tree gives you Melee Mitigation 2 and some other restraint defenses as well. Also there is nothing like locking an enemy into a dizzy loop with KD2, stacking some disease and poison, then walking away as they cook flopping like a fish on the ground. Since you plan to rely more on your poisons and diseases for the damage (nothing at all noob about that, you are a CM after all) you don't need much from the Power tree. Lastly the Precision tree will give you the needed accuracy for your state attacks, allow hits to specific pools including mind, and gives you additional ranged and melee defenses.



The main disadvantage I had was the lack of a decent ranged direct damage attack. I actually had a WS friend make me a D18 fully modified with high accuracy, 204 max dmg, and a 20% wound chance. It was very useful in combination with suppressionfire1 and frequently allowed me to catch up to my enemies.


Going TKM and CM 4404 is also a possibilty but you won't be able to affect a whole raid the way a Master CM can.


btw Brainplay, Acklay venom is not used in CM meds. It is used in grenades. Spider Venom off the Fire Breathing Spider is used as an AIA in CM meds.

I simply prefer 0444 TKA and Master CM.. I like the extra speed and damagerather than wasting skill points to get a short boost in stats, which when fully buffed is really not needed and just seems like overkill.

i would try MCM smuggler 0040 and pistol 0030. thats my template now and with a nice flame DOT geo-blaster its quite effective.
