Thread: Poison/Disease calculation question

Hello everyone--new CM here (got tired of BE after six or seven months--fun profession, though!). My understanding is that as of this writing, CM poisons and diseases stack. That is to say, individual poison A -D stack, as well as with area A-D. My assumption is that these also stack with the various single and area diseases. Has anyone ever run a calculation on the DPS a creature takes from being under the influence of all of these DoTs at once? I know that it would be difficult (and imprudent to attempt) to drop all of them consecutively, but with a strong pet and the right food, it could happen within a minute or two.

Just curious....

1) There are no D poisons or diseases...they only go as high as Cs

2) Diseases do not stack. Only the highest damage disease for each attribute will take effect.

3) Poisons do stack. In theory you can get 6 poisons to damage a HAM stat, iff all 6 take hold and the CM can survive long enough to throw them.

4) Poisons tic every 10 seconds, regardless of who throws/applies them

5) There is a formula for the damage a poison will do, bassed on the effectiveness rating of the stim and CM effectiveness skill of the thrower...

Damage = stim rating x (1 + (CM effectiveness skill rating / 100))

That will allow you to figure out the damage.

Thanks Pahd!

(umm...I understood there was to be no math....)

So if I want to use combat medic as a PvE profession, I need to figure out a way to stay alive long enough to apply the poisons. Makes senses.

Thanks again (and don't you love the noob mistake of D poisons??)

If you are worried about throwing all those poisons, if you take a (100 effectiveness or more) halva, a chef food, you throw time will essentially be 1 second so you can stack as many poisons and diseases as you want. Note that the effect of halva upon combat medicines has been put forward to the devs (by Texxie, the chef correspondent, and maybe the doctor correspondent) as a game-breaking effect, and we are hoping they will do something about it.

The alternative is the tried and true "/applypoison; /burstrun;" or the new and improved "/applypoison; /mount;". Not honorable, but it gets the job done. (Fighting as a combat medic is much different than fighting as a normal combat class, as you will quickly learn. )

The short, non-mathy,answer is "if you toss everything you have at a brand new enemy, you can expect somewhere on the order of about 1000 effectiveness of poison, or 200 dps at master level. You can also expect about 100 effectiveness of disease, or I think 5 dps at master level, although that will speed up as battle fatigue is incurred by the target".

Edit: added "The alternative" paragraph
