i posted in the Carbineer forum earlier today commenting on how happy i was that Carbineer is finally getting the fixes itso richly deserves. then of course came the people saying that Carbineer with be flavor of the month and it snowballed as these things will do. it got to the point where i was trying to explain to some of the Carbineers how difficult it is to deal with Nerfy McNersalot and his HUGE family quite simply because they have never had a cry for nerf there. the profession has been broken too long to have anyone cry nerf, so they cannot understand the frustration.

so i was explaining how difficult it is to have intelligent conversations in THIS forum because we are at the TOP of every nerf herder's hit list at the moment, and you will never believe what happened...

a cry for nerf of Combat Medic in the Carbineer Forum.

i was floored. my jaw DROPPED.

this person said 'Neo how can you not see that Combat Medic is over powered. i was a combat medic and blah, blah, blah...' the whole schitck about being able to insta-incap and kill 647 players all by himself in under 6 seconds yadda yadda yadda

i glanced back up to be SURE i was in the Carbineer forum, i was, so i quickly typed an apology to the Carbineers that one of these fools had followed me to their forum, and bowed out before i could cause any more damage.

so i ask you now, where do we draw the line on the temper tantrums about Combat Medic?

Depends on what you mean by 'draw the line'.

Me, personally, I've just ignored them. Come at me with a coherent argument we can discuss rationally and I'll respond. Anything else isn't worth the effort.

I have a question? I am not here to start problems I was just curious to the overall reactions to the new poisons floating around. I have been hit now with poison that does well over a 1000 a tick and diseases that black bar your mind in around two ticks. Don't you guys think this is even a little overpowered?

I mean I always see CM's get flamed for what they do and they were hard enough to deal with pror to this new Geo dungeon. I don't wantto take anyone's bread and butter away just think you guys need to be leveled off a bit. You take so many people completely outa the fight so fast as they can not resume fighting as there bars are all black. I don't think this was ever the original intent of the Dev's.

well, as this is a new development, it appears to be the new intention of the devs.

What do you think is a fair Damage Per Second to have on a combat classes primary weapon?

I do think that 1000+ per tick is excessive. sick even. However, when non-buffed, i have had my ham bars taken to 1 by a single burn from a flamethrower. Did I like it? no. Did I deal with it? grudgingly. I fully expect to have this happen again, and again, and again.

It's part of the game. I only WISH my Master CM could do even remotely close to the DPS of a master (insert combat class here).

NeoEcks I also used to try and bring in good arguments in posts aiming at nerfing the CM's. Now I only post into those threads when something really stupid is said (and I mean extremly stupid ). All the other posts are just flames or wanna-be flames by people who got hit by a CM.

I agree you start wondering when the nerf callers start following you to other forums... but they don't want balance. They just want to pick a fight. Since they are to lazy beat us in the game... they try it here.

Well whats intended by the devs or not... only they know about that one. The new drops do give us poisons/deseases that are almost 2 times better than anything we had before. Did we ask for it? Not really. Are weapons in generall overpowerd right now? You bet ya. Pistols are firing at 500 max damage, certain rifles are in the same leauge. Our Poisons are leathal right now if you even let it tick once and don't get me started with 1000 tick deseases.

With the new weapons upgrades that are flowing out of the Geo cave every weapon there is can be enhanced anywhere from 100 to 300 more max damage. After a while everyone will have weapons that really hurt. Cm's are just one of the first because we can make the weapons ourselves. Other professions need the Weapon smiths, that are still experimenting just like us.

All I can say is that the Dev's have allready stated that this is just one of the steps from the Combat system revamp. Untill everything is finished they clealy stated that things will be out of whack and many professions will seem overpowered. So untill everything in finished... sit back and relax... oh and stay out of PVP

Everything coming out of that cave is extremely powerful, not just CM components. It may all need a once-over, quite frankly.

But in the end, like has been said, this is the 'growing pains' part of the whole revamp. It may get worse before it finally gets better. All y'can do is sit back and hold on.

I think the first problem is that the nerf cries on the profession are based on loot drops. These 1000 tick poisons/diseases are not as common as is led on. To get ticks of this magnitude, the packs would have to have 500 effectivness...which is roughly 325 power for poisons and 450 power for diseases (both AOE figures). Venom of these magnitudes do not drop anymore. They will more than likely be used up within a week.

I'm not a fan of having static creatures drop loot. All it does is encourage camping. What I would have liked to see is a new schematic (that is if the devs really wanted to have a CM thing in the cave). I think something like a poison that attacks the defense modifiers... something like melee/range defense -10% every 10 seconds. Or one that affects the dodge/block modifiers. There's a lot of potential to be creative with the CM class, and "uber max damage" doesn't need to be the goal.

That being said, prior to the Geo cave opening, I agreed with the dev's feelings that CM damage output in pvp was adequate. I do think PVE should be addressed however.

by the gods it is nice to hear the voice of reason once in a while.

i am in fact just going to sit back and wait for all the changes to take place. slow as the process might be, i am egar to see what is in the works. i don't even PvP often, i am just excited to see the over all outcome of the new changes, revamps and fixes for the professions that need it. i am still hoping beyond hope that Combat Medic will become more of a viable PvE class as a stand alone, not having to take up mastery of a ranged weapon or 4/4/0/4 or TKA or what have you.

i guess what i meant by 'draw the line' is how far is too far to push nerfing before a mod can step in and say:

'hijack a thread like this again (outside of the forum of the profession you are calling for a nerf) and your account here on the boards will be suspended for a [insert time here]'

not that i beleive that the mod's jobs are not difficult enough just monitoring the thousands of posts they have to keep an eye on, but when something THAT out of wack happens it would be nice if the mods were given the power to swing the nerf bat at the accounts of those who need it most.
