I've been a CM off and on since Day 1. I love CM, both for ranged healing and DOTs.
My main concern these days is that the Devs are going to give in to all of the nerf cries and bone our profession into uselessness. I have had recent conversations with several people, and they are thoroughly convinced that the only real solution is to make CM a PURE SUPPORT profession, essentially limiting them to healing only. This makes me crazy.
Early in my tenure as a CM, I went to kill rancors with a large group of UNBUFFED newbs. I was able to keep all but 4 of them alive for over 2 hours, due to my ranged stims and area heals. (no doc, so they got to walk back)
I did this same thing a few weeks ago, just gathered a group at random and went to kill rancors. Well, low and behold, we didnt lose a single party member, and I NEVER THREW A HEAL. The only way I could possibly accept being a dedicated healer is if they NERF DOCTOR BUFFS. I would be willing to accept this type of limitation if, and only if, Doctor buffs are modified to ONLY AFFECT PRIMARY POOLS. This, at least, would leave us some usefulness.
It seems that most of the people crying for nerfs dont understand this profession, what it takes to be a successful CM, or the costs involved. They dont seem to understand our limitations, only our advantages. It's almost as if they dont WANT to see what we have as a disadvantage.
Example:
(dufus) Hey Ledo, you suck. You just threw a poison on me from 80m and it 2 ticked me in 10 seconds.
(Ledo) No I didnt, I threw it from 70m, and it 3 ticked you in 30 seconds. And hey, did you notice that you 2 shotted me in the head, and ranged DBd me in 4 seconds? Whats your problem then?
(dufus) Well, i'm supposed to be able to do that.
(Ledo) What, and I'm not supposed to use the skills I worked for?
(dufus) you are too buff in pvp. You have to be nerfed! You just dont want to lose your uber skills and you suck!
(Ledo) again, did you fail to notice that you had me incapped, DBd, and cloning, before my poison ever even ticked on you? I fail to see your logic.
(dufus doesnt shut up until /addignore - along with several of his dufus friends - you are all familiar with this. probably had the same conversation)
________________
Thats very close to a word for word conversation I had with an unnamed dufus in Theed just the other night. When it comes right down to it, SWG revolves around a squeaky wheel, which WILL be greased, and we cant win a battle against a sea of stupidity. Do we CMs lose, just because a bunch of people fail to use tactics, items, foods/drinks, and well coordinated groups? Because they refuse to accept that our OVERWHELMING UBER POWER is the weakest primary offensive skill of any master combat profession?
I feel it coming. Comments?
Ledo Valasio - Master CM and proud of it.

No you know how we beat these nerf cryers? We do like I did tonight. Do real expirements with real numbers, if we perform honest expirements on the powers of our class and do real comparisons with the rest of the professions in the game, we can avert the nerfs and get the things fixed that we need fixed.
None of us combat medics want to be all powerful, but we who play this profession know the truth that we are really not as overpowered as the rest of the nerfers want to make it sound.
While they will fight with half-truths and exagerations, our weapons are the truth and with that weapon I would like to think we can prevail.

Real tests with Real Numbers have been posted, screen shots included, and the nerfers still cry that we are broken and overpowered. The number 1 thing I hear is "You should have the 75% damage reduction for PvP!" My problem with that is that we are already basically useless in PvE, and a 75% reduction in PvP, without a significant increase in our PvE abilities would make us useless in PvP as well.
You are right. I dont want to be all powerful. And I'm not.
I just dont want the squeaky wheels to decide what our profession should be.
