Thread: Combat Medic 1 Question Answered!

Here's the Question:

It has been seen in past patch notes that Combat Medic range was to have been capped. Currently, Combat Medics have the ability to throw up to 96m, farther then any ranged profession. Will our range be decreased to max 64m, and if so, will the fact we are rooted for the entire throw animation be removed?

And here's the answer:

To this, I can say that the Combat Medic throwing range should not be 96 meters. It may however be reduced to 64 meters in the near future My best estimation at this time is that it will most likely happen in the Combat Balance. We're not certain what the exact range for Combat Medics but it will need to be 64 meters or less.

The thread by TH can be found here.

There was more in that post that affects CMs as well:

I really wish that TH would have answered the rooted animation question.

I could very well anticipate, due to the howls of those who feel they should be invulnerable because they've stacked their defenses carefully and have the best composite credits can buy crowd, the range reduction answer.

But then TH leaves us hanging on a vulnerability issue that really does tie in with the range issue.

When we start dealing with the Combat Revamp, trust me, I'll bring the rooting issue up. Over, and over, and over again.

I've been hearing rumblings from some experienced players that the rooting is a myth. We experience it from our end, but somehow it is compensated and people that are chasing you don't actually gain ground.

Is there any truth to this? I think a test is in order.

I did an informal test a few weeks ago with Kosso from Kauri. Kosso is a MR/MF/TKA 4004/Medic 0100. I threw one of my ICBM Mind Melt-140sat him from 96m. Without burst run he easily closed to within 60m of me before I was able to even move from the 4 second root. Note he has no Terrain Negotiation. We didn't test burst run but I believe I would have been on my back faster than I could sayW T F. Basically the only way for a melee class to catch up was to burst run but a ranged class could easily get in range to perform specials that would further hinder a CMs movement.

They're waiting for the combat balance to fix this bug? This should be addressed quickly.

You do get rooted, but the ranged healing speed tapes mitigate that quite a bit. I was down to 2.76 seconds on a stopwatch with ranged healing speed +18 in that dumb animation..

Ranged healing speed +18? I'll give you a crate of bofa treats and a cdef pistol for one of those. Seriously, I'm gonna have to ebay to bet the kind of credits for that modifier. Geez, poor in game and poor out of game....were's the fantasy?!

I probably wasted real life lottery winning luck on that dumb tape, but woohoo!!!
