Thread: Potency vs. Effectiveness?

On mind poison C for example when I see two offerings at a shop:

130 potency, 175 effectiveness
75 potency, 260 effectiveness

How do I tell which is better?

If it fails, I can throw again.
I'm more interested in damage per time period.

Thanks.

the higher the potency the less likely it would be resisted

the higher the effectiveness the more damage per tick the poison will do

a good potency range would be 93-100 and then use the rest of your experimentation points for effectivness

potency beyond 100 is pretty much a waste of experimentation points

usually, im happy once I get potency in the 80's, then put the rest of my points into the effectivness.

I would agree with Kavedawg that you should set your potency between 93-100 and no more than 103. I have mine at anywhere between 98-101 depending on the Fungi I use.

If you use your poison specifically for PvP, I would have it at at least 100. Because you want to make sure the first one count. You often don't live long enough to throw another under the barrage of eyeshot or stopping shot.

If you plan on use your poison for PvE, then crank up the effectiveness, the more damage it can do the better.

The amount of experiement points I normally assign are as follows:

Charges: 0 (with advanced dispersal, I can get 32 base without experimenting)

Easy of use: 0-2 (enough to met my requirement, or 0 for PvE)

Effectiveness: 8+

Hope that helps.

I get my potency above 85% and I'm so rarely resisted that I'm surprised when it happens. Usually about 1 out of every 30 throws or so in PVE.
