I was thinking about it, and do we really want a poison launching gun? For me personally, the issue is with our combat rating (for missions and cons) being so low, and a gun is an easy solution to that.
However, really, do we want a gun in and of itself? I think it would be inappropriate for combat medics to be wielding that kind of weaponry, in that we would violate the spirit of the class. What I mean by that is that suddenly, we are exactly like commandos, except we use poisons and diseases rather than explosives.
We would have a single target poison gun, which would be like a commando using a flame thrower to set somebody on fire. We would have a throwablearea poison, which would be like a commando throwing a thermal detonator. The commandos would have a fairly legitimate reason to feel like we were starting to encroach on their class. They might even argue that they should be able to use our weaponry (it takes a qualified person to handle sets of poisons, but it is fairly easy to take a loaded poison gun and fire it).
Functionally, we would be very similar to as we are now, but it would feel intrinsically different. So really, do we want to have a gun, or the byproducts, however appropriate or inappropriate, which come of it (such as removal of root times, stronger combat ratings, and a unique icon on our character which sets us apart)?

If it removed the 4 second timer AND reduced our range to 64 meters then yeah I would go for that.

Already such a thing. Looted weapons have this ability. Group of my buddies got put through the ringer when someone usedtwocone effect weapons with mind poison. Added a nice dizzy and stun to them at the same time. At least we'd be guaranteed to be able to hit at 64m. Headshot spam here I come!
