Thread: An old bug rears it's ugly head

Pip has been working on the rebel theme park and was in the mining outpost tonight when somebody trained a NPC dark jedi master into the mining outpost on Dantooine while I was in the cantina. He ran into the cantine while I was meditating and watching some dancers. 2 smacks with a lightsaber and I was down. I cloned, drank a brandy, ate an arhisa and a canape, did a power boost, and joined a group of about 12 other players while the jedi was still wreaking havok. I landed a single heal poison C, B, area poison C (CM MED use 75) and area B, then started trying to heal.

Lag was severe, with about 50 players at the outpost figthing the Jedi, and I had a ping of 900+ (normal is 120ish for me).

The melee was close, and I targeted a player 7m away and tried several time to throw an area C healing stim on him. The response was that my target was out or range. This happened several times in a row. I was able to heal the same characer with both single ranged stim Ds and small stimpack Es(non-ranged), with no problem. I was also able to /healmind with no problem.

This has been a long standing bug for CMs, getting an invalid target or target is out of range when using AoE healing stims in laggy areas (notice the AoE DoTs still worked). The bug is very hard to reproduce, but very frustrating when it is your bread and butter for the support aspect of CMs when it does not work.

If anybody wants the full resolution screenshot, I can email it to them.

I have seen this many times myself, it is quite ANNOYING!

Any one notice since p10 that you don't warp from your bike, but the bike does a little warp itself? And you get that cannot store vehicle if your mounted on it after you come to a complete stop?

I agree Pip it needs to be fixed. What I do is run into the middle of the group and pop the Area Stim on myself (I make sure only Area's available) seems to help.

Ok, will try since I'm not afraind to be in the middle of the furball.

My ranged and area stims are hotkeyed and stored in my backpack...the regular stims are the default that I use with the /heal command.

That way I can pick which stim I want to use when i use one

I notice you are targeting a pet while trying to heal, would that maybe have something to do with it? Pets seem to have a strage COB(center of being) where the distance they are from you can often be incorrect based on pet direction and size. For example the COB or true target of the pet might not have been that 7m, it may have been closer to 9m.

Naw, was targeting Mor'nel at the time by clicking on the group listing on the HUD....At this time I started clicking through any target to try and throw one.

Heh it can't be half as bad as line of sight is on TC right now. I could not even shoot a lair until I was stading IN the damn thing. Those little shrubs that grow on Naboo that are like 10 inches tall are too tall for me to shoot or throw things over even when my character is standing like 6 feet tall

Trying to throw a poison on TC right now is tricky. EVERYTHING seems to obstruct line of sight.

Really the most damaging bug to the class as a whole, as there isn't always time to realize your area's aren't working and start using singles. Still experience it in most laggy situations, and the bug has been with us always, as far as I can tell.

Confirm. Had that problem the day before yesterday while healing on a corvette run. My groupmates' comment was "I thought you were healing..." Well, I was...desperately trying to keep up with healing using only regular ranged stims.
