the exact email I sent to the devs. Please note, this has nothing to do with my RL time, but about the overall issue(s) I address in the email.

To the Developers at SOE for Star Wars Galaxies:

I regret to inform you that my position as the Combat Medic Correspondant must come to an end for a variety of reasons. Most of which are game related but I’m sure you can see yourselves from the negatives posts on the forums, and the customer count dropping on a regular basis that people are generally unhappy with your product. I’m not going to tell you how to run your business nor how to develop a game because I have never done either. What I can tell you is, as a game player, and once paying customer, people don’t like to be mislead or pay for an unfinished product.

Back to the point: I have cancelled my SWG account, effective August 31st 2003. I will be discontinuing my Correspondant duties immediately. Please make the necessary changes to my forum login. You will need to find another able-bodied replacement to lead this profession. I thank you for your efforts to bring your customers into a realm where we can try to make a difference and I hope that eventually this game meets the glory it has the potential to.

Sad to see this happen, but with so few responses to certain problems I understand. One of my friends just quit playing out of frustration with the factory bugs and other issues.

'Who's next?"

My guess would definitely be Sintrosi... the Droid Engineer correspondent. We get absolutely NO feedback from the developers concerning our very busted class.

I agree with Filthy, im on my way out of here too, imagine this:

You go out tobuy a new car, the specific model you want is only available by mailorder, its a little more expensive than other cars on the marketbutits great because if you pay xx amount of $ a month on top of the listed prize of xxxxx $youll get all sorts of extras. When you finally recieve it its got no engine. you contact thecompany who made the carwho tell you the following:

"If you justkeeppaying us xx $ a month then eventually we will mail you the missing engine, the engine however is not a big priority for us right now, lots of people who ordered the same car as youare complainting about missing cup-holders, demandingnew seat covers, new color options, windows and tyres. we will deal with these issues 1st. But dont worry, your xx $ will be well spend on updates - next month we will send you a fluffyteddybear to hang from your rearviewmirror and thats just one of the many exciting features we are working on..."

you decide to try it out despite the grim outlook, andthe 1st big monthly update gives you a very nice cup-holder, but also removes the frontseat, and makes the gasoline required to run your car, a new prototype gasoline thats only available every 3 weeks from a remote gasstation outside Dusseldorf in Germany.

your friends tell you to hang in there, in a year from now the car will probably have an engine.

people on the car-makers webpage tell you to hang in there, they care a lot about their cars and are willing to wait it out. some even think the cup-holder is so cool theyre not even sure they will miss the engine.

there is a very acurate worddescribing the mental state of anyonewho keeps the car, im not allowed to post it here...

This is just too sad.

Really shame on SoE.

Feel sorry for you Combat Medics, until you get new correspondent none of your issue will be addressed.

But then again it weren't addressed when you HAD your correspondent, which is one of the reason why your correspondent left.

Well, as for the responses, it won't make too much difference having a correspondent or not. You can be the most proactive correspondent in existence, but until we get a reply we can't send any more issues anyway.

And even if we did the track record looks like it will be a month, on average, for the response. Plenty of time for someone else to step in. Heck it only took me a week to make my first list from trudging thorugh the posts. I think i have gotten more efficient at it since then, but that's not really realvent at the moment until we get those responses.

I hate to see us losing any players, though, even though I do understand. Personally I think there is still a lot of merit to the game and I'm having fun. So that's all I really care about getting from the game. A bit of fun. Sure there are problems, some pretty bug ones, but it's till fun despite those problems, for me. Of course I can also understand that dealing with those problems mkes the game less fun than it could be.

At least it's not Everquest. That game just bored me to tears in 2 months. But that's just me.

worst part is alot of the issues that went into the list turned into the devs a month ago are completely different from the list of issues that we have to deal with now post-patch...

not only has it been a month...SOE shoved a major patch in that time which complete changed the dynamics of a lot of classes....

looking at the list now i have say that almost 1/2 of those issues are dead or have completely changed...AOE is fixed....Poisons are now definately not underpowered...the issue of Cm components being separate will even further complicate the dot power issue...almost like comparing apples to oranges

This profession is now playable and as such will probably not get a whole lot of attention from the devs for a while.

most bugs are minor (fiberplast_yavin, ranged stim E components) and do not reduce the abilities of the profession to a level of non-playable.

Fixing the broken professions and increasing the amount of content would be hot issues. IMO all correspondants should post Fix Commandos on top of their lists when new ones are accepted by the devs, followed directly by a huge: ADD CONTENT!

but what do i care...

Account cancled. See you in WoW. (at least Blizzard has a reputation for releasing games that work!)

Say hello to most your guild members who quit because they never fixed droids, bio, arch factories etc. BUT KEEP SPENDING TIME CHANGING THOSE DISPLAY COLORS, THAT'S JUST SOOOOO IMPORTANT

Ok just one thing I'd like to point out, everyone bitches because problems aren't getting fixed but they have time to change color schemes. Here's the deal, in a large project such as this, the developers do not all work on one thing, there are seperate groups or seperate areas that a developer specializes in. With that said, it simply appears that the visual designer is a bit more productive than the other developers. Do not kid yourselves into thinking SOE has an entire team of people making colors darker - I'll bet it is just one single person. The other devs are either not working hard enough, or are having a hard time fixing the broken code (which is usually due to sloppy coding in the first place - I've done very large scale bug fixes that took less than a day to fix and test). While it may seem that I am defending SOE here, I am not. I am simply attempting to demonstrate that it is not the fault of the entire dev staff, but a few people.
