Combat Medic Archive
Thread: To renew or not to renew...
Well the billing cycle is almost complete and it's time to decide if I should go on another month.
I'm pretty bored as a Master Combat Medic, butmore soI'm a college student so I don't have as much time to play as I did over the summer (unhealthy amounts of time spent to make my character). The couple hours every couple days I have isn't enough to get resources and make all the money it costs to make CM stuff - so over half the time playing this game is doing boring stuff like money missions and running around looking for resources.
Then once I get it - what - I make some mind poisons, run into town, have them resisted 66% of the time. I don't mean to complain about that... really I don't care but at this point it's like, was all the bs I have to do to make poison and disease worth it to incap some guy, death blow him, and then have him come running back 1 minute later?
I mean some things we are good for like killing high level pets. Honestly if they took non-LOS away then I would say that CM is a waste of skill points. Normally when I try to poison someone non-LOS they just resist it the first time anyways and then come running around the corner and have me to half health (or knocked down ie. dead if you are a medic) before I can try again to poison them.
This class just isn't very fulfilling. I wish I had gone doctor because it seems like a much better class, with much better skills for less skill points. You are immune to combat medics with your ability to cure poison and disease, and nearly invincible with the ability to buff yourself. Yeah mind damage but if you spam your best specials while you are buffed you can take a large number of people down especially with AOE attacks (Doc/Carbineer seems like a good combo). It seems much more "combatitive" then just poisoning someone and hoping they don't knock you down and running away. I guess the Combat Medic attacks just aren't very ... fun... especially considering how much everything costs to make.
I think maybe if they allowed you to make multiple characters on one server it would be a more captivating game. I don't want to throw away all the relationships I have with people on one server to try out a new class, and I definately don't want to waste the 1000 hours ofstress and uber-boredomI have spent making this character. And I definately would not consider paying for another account considering the "OQ" of this product is so low.
Beyond that though even if they gave us multiple character slots there is a worse problem with the game. The biggest I think. Other games had the philosophy of making items, money, and skills moderate/low difficulty to gain, and concentrating on making the world more exciting with tons of ways to interact with people and create fun situations, *as a means to keep the player base playing as long as possible*. This game has a negativephilosophy of makingskill incredibly long and boring to gain as a means of keeping people playing. They get addicted and "have to keep playing for another month to make master whatever". Then there isn't anything to do as a master. Even if I had another character slot - Honestly despite what I said if this game was more fun I would definately buy another account - there is no way I would want to go through the boredom of grinding for HOURS AND HOURS or days on the higher boxes to get 1 skill box out of 16 in the tree.
Creating a character in this game is soooo unfun that I am stuck with a Master Combat Medic which I don't like to play and will never drop because of how hard it was and the fact that now that I am down from playing this game like 10 hours a day like a psycho over the summer to like 10 hours a week there is NO WAY I could make another character in less then 2 months. That sounds like a pretty horrible prospect to me. 2 months of soloing (which is the only way to get the most exp the fastest) BORING creatures with little returns or rewards.
I think I am going to hang in one more month but I don't know....
Why not just change to a doctor than. It's not as if getting the medical xp is hard if you're in a descent hunting group. Crafting tho...you're on you own with that one![]()

I've noticed that too. Going solo is very boring in SWG but sometimes it's just the most efficient way to make money and xp. And sometimes, you really need that money or want to get your next skill as soon as possible.
See, what I failed to understand is him playing a class he didn't like to play. I mean, at any point in his advancement, why did he continue? What kept him going? Then only to reach Master CM from grinding (which is never the fun way to reach master, btw. Actually, it's the most boring thing ever) and be all bored because there's nothing left to do which is also a major design flaw of the class (you have to reach master level to actually do any kind of decent damage) where the combat aspects of the class doesn't really come in until on the end.
LoL, reading over his post again I still can not find one good reason he became a CM. If you're not having fun advancing through a class, drop it quick and pick up something else. Try something that is not boring for you, if you can't find one then SWG is not for you.
And no, multiple characters per server is not a fix to this game. More like an idea that will break the whole point of the economy.
Also, from personal experience, once you are financially established in your server it is much easier changing classes. You already have the money, so you wouldn't be worrying so much about missions, you probably already own property and have furnished it with said money, you also probably already have ready and easy access to the equipment you need. There's also all you're contacts who some you might group with to go kill things and pretty much power level your way through the lower professions. (Trust me, beside from the Entertainer class, all the other basic professions are quick and easy to master with the proper materials and resources)
