Thread: Droid Troubles
Last night I bought a mouse data droid, in hopes of streamlining the monotony of missions. I tamed it, trained it, and downloaded ten missions into it. However, a number of problems arose...
1) Whenever I open my droid, I'm told I don't have permission to access this container.Considering it's my droid, and it's been both trained and named, why am I getting this message? I don't seem to be denied the ability to copy or remove items from memory, so I don't understand the point of the warning.
2) Droids don't seem to use much sense when they follow. I found myself frequently having to backtrack to find it, because if I turned the corner of a building too sharply, the droid would get stuck around the corner. This was particularly problematic entering the bank, where you need to make a U-turn. The droid just couldn't handle it.
3) To resolve the previous problem, I stored the droid when entering the bank area and after it got stuck behind too many corners. However, when I stored the droid, all my stored mission data was lost! I'd spent the time necessary to find ten missions in the same destination city, and the droid's memory was wiped when the droid was stored. This is bogus, considering it's a data droid. It seems to me such a device would be used for data strorage, and that such storage should be persistent.
4) Prior to storing the droid and losing all the data, I had loaded it with ten mission profiles and activated their waypoints. The idea was to streamline the mission collection process, by hitting all ten of them in nearest-first order, then leave town for the destinationcity. However, when I told the droid to follow and started walking, it didn't start following me until I'd gone out of range, at which point all the active mission waypoints were deactivated!
Are each of these complaints the way data droids are supposed to work, or are they bugs? The data storage problems may well be designed to keep one from taking advantage of the droid, i.e. making a fortune running missions, but without persistent storage, what's the point of a data droid? I just don't get it.
It'd be great if a Dev could comment on this.
Droidworks like a mission terminal.
1. Open the droid
2. Click on a mission and choose details
3. Click accept mission (mission is now placed in data pad)
You can only have 2 missions active at one time however so if you try the above and your data
pad had two missions already, you'll have to do those two missions then ask the droid for missions again.
Hope this helps,
Draconos
The R series droids follow much better then the mice. My R4 and R5 do very well and have no problems keeping up. My problem was when a mob started to attack bucket he ran away. Now I use the stay command far enough from the fight to avoid him getting aggro.

My droid has stopped allowing me to heal anyplace like it did earlier. I call it out and it will still give me the "You must be in a hospital or camp to heal wounds" type message.
Is this happening with everyone?
Is it a bug?

I have also had this happen to me. First check to see that it is near you. One thing that I noticed is whne you bring it out of the datapad to goes running in a random direction and will warp like other NPCs to keep going in that direction and if it gets stuck it may be too far from you (needs to be within 10 meters to work). Second like the previous post says make sure you have it charged.
I do believe that there is still a problem though. I have to charge my droids everyday. Even if I just take them out of the datapac for the first time that day I have to charge them. I will use them for about an hour and put it away til the next day when I take it out it will be dead again.
Another instance I have seen is a friend of mine has used 6 batteries to charge his droid and it STILL will not let him heal or buff with it?
Lastly I have noticed that "your droid's customizaion has faded a little" and "your droids customization has faded completely" messages happen everytime I use a droid out of the datapad. there is nothing I can do to get rid of this message and my DE is MIA
. for about 2 weeks now. ANy good DEs on wanderhome?
