Thread: Question...How do you support yourselves?
I'm about 3 skills away from master CM and I have been totally broke the entire time I've been working on this class. I just can't get ahead unless I do constant grinding of missions each day and totally neglect any group raids or med exp for the day.
I'm generally forced to spend a day or two grinding missions to save up enough money for harvestors so I can spend the next couple days getting med exp. I personally didn't take up CM so I could spend all day grinding mind numbingly boring missions just to support my crafting needs.
I guess I'm a little lost at how the rest of you are keeping up with good equip/weapons as well as collecting resources. Have most/all of you picked up doc crafting to sell stims or are you all just grinding through missions?
I hate to even think of another crafting grind since I just got out of one but if that is about the only reasonable way to have a positive credit flow I guess I'll get started. Thx for any tips/advice.
A few suggestions I was given:
1) Sell Stim B's
2) Buff in the med center for a price
3) Do group missions
1 is possible, but you won't be able to really compete in that market unless you take up doctor as well.
2 is just out unless you are a very skilled doctor
3 is probably your best bet, try one of the advanced planets. Most groups are glad to have a good medic along. Combat Medic is better than Doctor for field healing, the revive will be missed but you have a much easier time healing so its not needed as often.
Doing solo missions works, but its boring tedious and since we don't rate much for them we don't get high paying missions. I recently found out that if you group with a pet and a probe droid you can get missions for almost 3K a piece which helps a lot.
Medic is definately the poorest profession there is. We have the same upkeep as a true crafter, but can only make items used by a fraction of the players. We are not meant to be a merchant style class so we can't spend the same amount of time as a crafter finding ressources and selling our products.
I use medium and heavy harvesters to extract the resources I need for meds (ar any decent cash crop if I see one). I then stockpile what I think I'll need and sell the rest on the bazaar. I make sure to keep the harvs set up to run for 5 days at a time so I don't spend all my live looking after them.
Then I spend the rest of my time doing what I like and spending my money on toys ![]()
Welcome to Civil Service
What I do is sell my services to groups. I also have a nice PA that helps me out when I get into a bind. I dont craft my own stims or poison. Buying suppliesseems to be alot cheaper and less annouying then haveing to run to a harvestercrafting station and factory.Make a good friend of you supplier and give him alot of biz they will usually start to give you deals on your meds. I pay about 750 for area stim C, and about 1k for my poision C's.I do keep a small amount of material on me incase i have to craft an ermergancy stim.
One night running missions on Dath i got 60k plus about 10k in tips from my group.
Hmm, the best way that I found to get money, and experience, it hard planet hunts in big groups. I would get up to area stim a's, make a whole wack of them, and go out on the hunt, learn to use the target group members keys and heal away, I usually heal heal heal heal, sit down, and heal every couple of seconds... this way, you can heal a range of people, for more xp, and your still out there getting credits. Then after a day or 2 doing big hunts, just go home, buy your resources, and craft away hehe. Do it all again the next day.
I'm also a Master Doctor, on top of Master CM,so I have the luxury to sell Stim B's. I actually help support my PA selling Stim B's. I do agree, however, that there is not an easy way for CMs to make money. The best advice I can give is to sell your services to others.
Also, I try to buy as many resources from others that I can. It is a pain running my own harvesters. However, I do have my own medium harvesters so I can hoard all the advanced resources when they get >900 stats.
Hope this helps.
I do what Gavin does, I harves resources of what I need and sell the rest. occasionalyy I make stim b's and sell them but mostly resources. I do an odd misison here and there and have been known to accompany a group huning on endor or some such planet for credits.
I usually can have 100 or 200k in my bank but I am by far not uber rich, I don't think CM's were meant to be =)
Well when I was unguilded I had a small house and I lived on Endor for a long time amassing money to pay for everything. I crafted alot and eventually established a client base that would purchase my supplies. My main problem was having to run all over to place harvesters in spots my artisan friends told me were "hot", keeping up with the maintenance of running around etc, and eventually amassing so much supplies I ran out of room in my Small Generic Home with a limit of 150.
Since I joined a PA, I was given a large house for free and my fellow PA members always ask me if I need resources from meat to mining. I was given access to the PAs harvesters in case I find a resource spot, and also full rights to current harvesters the PA has in place. I use these PA resources to craft mass amounts of Stim Bs as well as other supplies such as enhances which I use when with the PA.
In summary, a good PA will make it easier but going it alone is feasible with alot of work. It pays to have friends...
